Intel makes a better quality CPU, while AMD makes a less quality, but still great CPU at a more afordable price. I strongly suggest you build your own PC. You say you want a prebuilt yet you're asking what kind of motherboard you should get. (Motherboards are not customizable on prebuilts). By custom building you save up to $ 400 (even more sometimes). It's also fun and a good experience. @CPU - Intel is technically the best brand. They have fantastic performance. The best performance. However, they're on the pricey side. AMD is much cheaper and sells great processors for the price paid. AMD processors are ideal for performance on a budget. ---- @Motherboard - You choose your mobo depending on three things: 1. What kind of CPU you have. For AMD processors you will need to buy either an AM3 or AM3+ socket type. For Intel Processors you will need to buy either an 1155, 1156, or 1336 socket type. AM3 and AM3+ motherboards tend to be the cheapest, so keep that in mind when you choose parts. 1155, 1156, and 1336 tend to be the more pricey. (As I said, Intel is more expensive). 2. Desired features. What kind of RAM do you want? How much of it do you want? Do you want any expandibility on the motherboards? (A soundcard, etc) Overclocking? Dual graphics cards? When shopping for the motherboard you want to keep these things in mind. The layout is very important along with what you plan to do in the future. 3. Quality. Read reviews, check which ones are good, which ones aren't. User reviews on Newegg are an excellent source from finding those things out. --- @RAM - 5-8 tabs open at a time? Doesn't seem too heavy. I would suggest 4gb of RAM. --- @Harddrive - 500gb or higher running at 7200rpm. Due to floods in Thailand, harddrives are a little bit more then expensive. --- @Videocard - this is one of the most vital parts of the PC. You will want a dedicated graphics card with more then 1gb of dedicated video memory. Go for a Nvidia GTS or GTX series graphics card or an AMD Radeon 6700 series or higher. Those graphics cards will run you games on medium at the very least.
