(it broke by the way) Just to inform everyone on how it broke. (i will talk about the question later on) The motherboard broke, it wouldn't turn on. The computer was a Toshiba, and i tried to fix it, but it was made in a way were a screw was placed in the middle of the computer, and couldn't be unscrewed.... Since it was already broken, (and it cost $ 800 to repair, dumb best buy...) i took it apart. I knew the pieces were worth some money. I'm here to ask how much each part is and where to sell. I also need to know if i made a dumb decision, but i backed all all the info, and i tried all my computer smart friends to help me, yet they said it was too hard of a task. put them on ebay, cant tell you how much they are worth as I don't know the specs search ebay for the items and look at completed listings to get an idea of how much they sell for

its tough to sell used laptops, and even tougher to sell individual pieces of a broken laptop. you might be able to sell it to someone for the raw metals in the wiring and all the bits, but really there isn't really going to be much of a profit in this for you as far as i can tell sorry

As long as the manufacture fallow the state and federal safety guidelines, they can make any electrical items any way that will sell. Now for your parts, If the computer is less then three years old. the only parts that are worth anything is the hard drive, memory, and maybe the screen. Everything else is only worth the material, good thing you don't have a CRT, then it would cost you to get rid of it. What ever you do make sure you have the operating disk or at least the OS registration number. 1) Your best option, Get another low end computer that will take your old computer memory AND the memory that is in the new computer at the same time. Buy the USB to type of hard drive converter. You can then use your old drive as an external hard drive. Then scrap the rest for nothing. 2) Have all parts pack neatly with the OEM and try to sell all the parts together, if you get 1/4 of the price take it. 3) Find the replacement value of the three parts I mentioned and try to get 1/3 of that price, With the hard drive include the OEM. If someone needs the keyboard, or laser drive, give it to them. Scrap the rest for nothing Its it legal to sell the OEM? Most likely not. Definitely can't sell the OS registration number Most likely you can't even use the OEM on a different computer, legally, but I won't tell. *OEM Original Equipment Manufacturer software including the registration # of the operating system
