depends on what you want it for. The mac mini is good for home and as a home media center, especially if you already have a good monitor. In laptops, the 15" macbook is a good compromise between size and weight. whatever you get, max memory is good, as is the larger hard drive and make sure it BURNS dvd's. Price? varies, but macmall and newegg both have good deals frequently. and the full applecare warranty is a must

Since Mac computers are all made by Apple, they are all of the same quality. The question is which model has the amount of memory and features you want. Apple also controls the cost pretty closely, so the prices don't vary much. You get about a $ 50 discount for being a student or educator, but otherwise, you pay based on the features you want. The price ranges from about $ 599 for the Mac mini without a monitor, to $ 999 for the cheapest laptop to upwards of $ 5000 if you get all the bells and whistles on the top workstation. If you don't know what you need, get a lower level lap top or iMac, and put some extra money into getting more RAM.
