Voices: Powerful Influence in Marketing Media

Oftentimes, we don't realise the importance and influence of "voices" in our everyday life. Not only are voiceovers and sounds important for visually impaired people, but the power of voices in today's world are a st rong force in everyone's lives. Behind the success of the best brands and top consumer products are the voices in their marketing strategies. Let's look at the unforgettable voices that continue to win the hearts of patrons and loyalty of consumers worldwide. These are the voices that when people hear them, they know exactly what the movie or advertisement is all about. Here are some of the impressionable voiceover talents in the past decades, which Terry O'Reilly, CBC radio program's Under the Influence host, featured in their "Voices of Influence" episode this month:

• 2001: A Space Odyssey - the critically acclaimed ultimate science fiction movie by writer Arthur Clarke and director Stanley Kubrick, which was released in 1968 after 4 years in production

o One of the central characters in the film is a computer named HAL

o Actor Martin Balsam - originally voiced the part of HAL, but the result wasn't what the director wanted HAL to sound

o Canadia n actor Douglas Rain - hired to replace Balsam and became the voice of the character of HAL, after the director heard him in a Canadian National Film Board documentary

o HAL's voice (portrayed by Rain) - controlling, aloof, unbalanced, eerily neutral, ominous, intimidating and powerful, which was the reason female voices are used in almost all phone prompts, computer voice systems and GPS voices to make technology sound smart, helpful and accommodating

• MasterCard "Priceless" advertising campaign series - establishing emotional resonance or connection between products and consumers, which started in 1997

o First "Priceless" commercial was aired during the 1997 World Series

o American theatre and film actor Billy Crudup - hired to be the voice of the "Priceless" campaign, actually appeared on-camera in the 2005 MasterCard commercial as a cashier at a gas station, and continues to be the ongoing voice behind "Priceless"

o MasterCard's "Priceles s" marketing campaign has run for 15 years, airing in 105 countries in 48 different languages

• Capital One's "What's in your pocket" TV commercials

o Randy Quaid - had been the voiceover for all Capital One TV commercials in Canada for several years

• Budweiser commercial

o George Clooney - his smooth, full-bodied and casual voice was perfect for the smooth, full-bodied beer

• Dodge commercials

o Michael C. Hall - used his wry narrating abilities in the commercials for Challenger, Charger, Durango, Grand Caravan, journey and Jeep Grand Cherokee

• Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) promo ads

o Ken Osborne - the remarkable announcer of the fight event; born blind, he translates the UFC script into Braille for his voiceover role

• Airport, subway platforms, train stations, and weather warning announcements

o Carolyn Hopkins - now 63 years old, she's been reading these announcements for over 15 years becaus e of her clear, authoritative voice without being harsh or overbearing

o She records the announcements in her home office in Maine

o Her voice, used in various announcement systems, is heard in over 200 airports around the world

Some businesses think that they have to hire the most expensive voice talent or voice actor to capture their target market. But that is not necessarily true. You can actually hire cheap voiceovers with equally superb, powerful and influential voices. The key here is finding the right voice that's perfect for the product advertisement, commercial, role, movie, etc. That's what we offer at Abe's Audio - providing our customers with exceptional value at a cheaper rate because we never sacrifice quality for price.

Answer by Frag Master
Willie, Its all good, other than building a rig yourself you can't do much better, your GTX570 is the biggest bang for your GPU buck until the Kepler powered GTX660 comes out, and even then it might still be the better buy. By adding the pro wiring and sound insulation your hoping to get more care taken from the builder, its not big bucks so why not. For the blinded by Bulldozer tard who can't see your Optical Drive: 24X Double Layer Dual Format DVD+-R/+-RW + CD-R/RW Drive (BLACK COLOR) Performance Analysis With the addition of numbers for the Intel Core i3-2100 and Core i5-2400 in some of our benchmarks, it's plain to see that even with a price cut, the FX-8120 struggles in most of our tests. In very multi-threaded tests such as Cinebench and WPrime, it just about manages to hold its own against the similarly-priced Intel Core i5-2400 - slightly ahead in WPrime, a little behind in Cinebench and noticeably faster than the cheaper Core i3-2100. The Core i5-3570K is much faster in both tests, but then it costs around £30 more. Our image editing test was a real let down with the FX-8120. It came bottom of the graph, being trounced by a staggering 500 points by the Core i3-2100 - a CPU that costs just £90. Even the ageing AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition was considerably faster while the similarly priced Intel Core i5-2400 was nearly twice as fast. Clearly, if you do any amount of photo editing, the AMD FX-8120 represents particularly poor value. With eight cores at its disposal, you'd think the FX-8120 might stand a good chance in our video encoding test. Sadly this wasn't to be and its score of 2,150 was over 400 points short of the Core i5-2400. Thankfully for the FX-8120, the Core i3-2100 was noticeably slower, with its two physical and two virtual cores not able to keep up. Everything started to fall away from the FX-8120 again in our multi-tasking test, where it was yet again at the bottom of the pile, coming 100 points short of the much cheaper Core i3-2100, while the Core i5-2400 was nearly 50% faster - pretty damning result. Overall, it was no surprise to see the FX-8120 rock bottom, bettered by the Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition and Core i3-2100 and trounced by the Core i5-2400. Our game test lacks data for the two Sandy Bridge CPUs as we tested these some time ago, however, with the Intel Core i5-3570K retailing for just £30-40 more, it's clear from our results that the FX-8120 isn't a great buy for games either. The Intel CPU was 60 per cent faster in Arma II while costing around 30 per cent more - not a bad rate of return if you can afford the extra layout. Conclusion, Sadly, its more of the same bad news for AMD or anyone with a Socket AM3+ motherboard looking for a decent CPU for around the £150 mark. The FX-8120 just isn't a good choice when it comes to the kind of applications we run on our PCs. It's regularly outpaced by far cheaper Intel dual-core CPUs, while the similarly-priced Intel Core i5-2400 is significantly faster in many of our tests. It's not all bad news for AMD - before we get accused of being biased towards Intel, we have no qualms recommending the A8-3870K for those looking to build a budget gaming PC, while we also recommend many of its graphics cards. Do drop the CPU OC its so easy why pay for it. As it stands, the FX-8120 will have to be a lot cheaper for it to be worth considering over an equivalently-priced Intel setup, while owners of the Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition can rest assured that there aren't any worthwhile upgrades yet. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2012/07/27/amd-fx-8120-review/8 To save some bucks now going to a i5 3570k is a great idea and go with the cheapest GPU for now or if you have one already use it till the Kepler power GTX660 comes out. I do recommend building your own rig not buying, you will have fun learning and taking control of your computational needs, and get more gaming power for your buck. I have added a few more links, hope they help. Wow, $ 1500 bucks just for a computer no monitor. And all your really paying for is a computer with a nice processor, but nothing else really. Your graphics card retails at around $ 250, you can go buy 2x4gb ddr3 1600 mhz memory sticks for $ 40 bucks. The only thing thats fascinating to me is the processor, but i would not pay 1500 dollars. to top it off, NO OPTICAL DRIVE, that means no cdrom/dvdrom how are u suppose to game without putting in cd's? aside from torrent, but anyways. To sum it up i would not buy it. I actually built a computer myself with almost exact same stats, mine has usb 3.0 and a graphics card almost equal to that, same memory, only thing is is that mine is an 8-core amd cpu which in my opinions better than even the one on this build, but yeah. Costed me $ 700 dollars, had a optical drive too. but then again i built mine. If ur gonna spe nd $ 1500, look for another site that wont rip u off, or just buy for like around $ 1000, you will never actually use all the features on a $ 1500 dollar computer anyways. And if u bought the computer i built from some store, it would be about 900-1000 dollars, so id jus get one like the one i told u about. Oh and it looks like u changed ur question so it now has a opticaldrive, thats only a $ 20 diff so not too big. And for the jerkoff trying to compare cpus, I have a fx-8150 not an 8120 dumbshit.

bestcomputersprices.blogspot.com Gaming PC Upgrades

Personal computer Cases appear in many sizes and shapes, colors, as well as styles. Many of these customizations are exclusively "bling" even though some present enhancements in functionality for your Pc. While virtually any desktop PC case can be modified, it is normally much more cost-effective to customize a gaming Computer case.

Personal computer gaming has got the potential to create a massive amount of heat. Graphics rendering demands a large amount of resources from your Central Processing Unit as well as the GPU. Furthermore, a lot of computer system players overclock their hardware for quicker performance. The danger is that often speedier efficiency also will mean higher temperature ranges. Too much heat can harm your components or even ruin it, so keeping your components cool is really a common cause for computer system case personalization.

Many customized Computer cases incorporate chilling features in the case. Nonetheless, it is generally a e xcellent idea to find out as much as you can regarding the stock cooling systems for Pc cases, as stock components are generally the most affordable that the manufacturer could locate. Most Desktop cases occur with a single 80mm system fan, with more substantial fans running to about 120mm. Far more fans will probably keep your system chillier, but they will also make your equipment louder. This is certainly an essential consideration if you want to sleep from the same room in your home as your laptop or computer and leave it on overnight. Personally, I like the sound of fans and it actually helps me fall asleep. However, I've met lots of individuals who are not able to stand the noise.

A further alternative to case fans could be to purchase a water-cooled case. These cases are generally significantly more expensive, but they're successful and create quite little sound. They're also pretty striking to show your close friends when you open the case and it looks as thoug h your computer is a living organism with veins running about.

Aesthetically intriguing items including LED lights, designer case wraps, neon lighting and cathode tubes are consistently getting into the market and producing ever more demand from customers. There is nothing quite so cool as turning the lights off and observing your pc appear as though it's some sort of futuristic time device. It really is also a very good approach to make an impression on your good friends! These kinds of fresh products are gaining attractiveness, that may drive supply a step forward. This signifies reduced prices and improved choices for shoppers.

At this point, let us have a look at probably the most important factors to think about when choosing a gaming Desktop case.

* Size

* Quantity of Bays

* Material (Aluminum, acrylic, or steel)

* Electrical power Supply

* Cooling

Size

You will discover several sizing categories, a nd every one has subcategories. Towers normally encase servers. These are big cases that typically can come with rollers and have a minimum of 10 bays. Exclusively business or corporation servers should be housed inside these, as they are ridiculously more than what an average and even hard-core game lover would most likely actually need to have. But then again, 10 years ago they said nobody would likely ever need to have more than 128 Megabytes of Good old ram. Don't forget those days? Well, even in case you don't remember, it's true. It really is simply just improbable you will have to have as much room as a tower may supply unless you're managing a server.

Essentially the most popular case size is the mid-tower. These are also one of the most well-known. If you ever use a desktop personal computer, you probably possess a mid-tower. Almost all gamers and typical users will find this size case to be wonderfully satisfactory for all their particular components as well as near future upgrades. In the event you don't intend to upgrade very much in the long term, then 3 bays should be adequate. But if you are wanting to have space to upgrade, buy a model with five bays.

Just like anything else in technology, personal computer cases are steadily getting more compact. In the event that interior decoration is crucial to you, you might take into account a micro or mini ATX case. Nonetheless, should you would rather that the sleek, bling-bling case get noticed, go on and opt for a bigger one. This path will even enable you more flexibility with the dimension of parts and future upgrades. Mini ATX cases need more compact motherboards, and generally merely consist of a single fan. Furthermore, there is generally only room for 1 DVD or CD drive and one Hard Drive. Scaled-down cases look much more advanced and exquisite, but sacrifice in versatility and overall performance.

Quantity of Bays

Because I covered this be fore, I'll just touch on it lightly again, because it is rather significant. When obtaining a custom Computer case, you should take into account whether you need to have room to upgrade it in the future. A few people prefer to just purchase completely new computer systems often and sell their old ones. Some people prefer to acquire a great computer system only one time every 4-5 years. No matter what way you choose, it is advisable to understand that you can expect to fork out far more for much more bays, but you will additionally potentially escape a significant annoyance or aggravation in the future.

Material (Aluminum, acrylic, or steel)

A large number of Computer cases are made from black-painted steel, having a cheap faceplate snapped to the front. Nevertheless, if you are likely to buy a personalized Desktop case, you should look at choosing aluminum or acrylic. Aluminum is far lighter in weight than steel, features a a lot more satisfying aesthetic, and dissipates heat a lot more efficiently.

But if you are wanting to definitely bling out your Computer case, the trendy way to go is acrylic. Acrylic cases are those see-through ones you always see on display. It may possibly appear super-cool to set several LED lights inside your acrylic case with some fluorescent lighting as well as a liquid-cooling system, turn off the lighting in the area, and behold your futuristic device. Not just does it make one heck of a night light, it's going to genuinely make an impression on your buddies, and get you in the mood for killing some noobs. It truly is critical to keep in mind, nevertheless, that acrylic cannot be welded, so these types of cases tend to be screwed or glued together. It is best to pick screwed cases rather than glued, as glued cases have a tendency to split from their seams very easily.

Electrical power Supply

Computers demand plenty of power. Specifically if you have a gaming Pc with additional or expensive elements. Much like we need oxygen, personal computers have to have power! Therefore, while selecting a electricity supply, do not suffocate your laptop or computer. Obtain a great strength supply and the pc's functionality are going to be able to reach its potential without slowing.

Apart from merely delivering adequate electrical power, it is advisable to be sure that the power supply is high quality and will likely not toast your costly components. If you're on a budget, don't think about that when shopping for a electricity supply. Penny-pinch anywhere else, because a power supply just isn't a component you ought to be cheap with.

Cooling

Modern day Personal computer video game titles max out the abilities of most gaming Computers, which in turn means that the components work hard and get incredibly hot without having a satisfactory cooling system. Fans, heat sinks, and water-cooled systems are som e of the methods to maintain your equipment cool whilst video gaming.

Fans are the most prevalent kind of cooling, and come in three standard sizes: 80 mm, 90 mm and 120mm. Some fans arrive with LEDs installed which make a super-cool lighting effect once the fan is revolving. Partnering this with an acrylic case is one method to definitely make an impression on your good friends.

Liquid-cooled systems are specifically snazzy. They are highly-priced, but they supply quite successful chilling while making simply no sound. Integrating these with an acrylic case plus some fluorescent lighting is one more solution to actually make an impression on your buddies.

Bottom line

Video Killed the Beautiful View [bestcomputersprices.blogspot.com]

BANGALORE: A host of brokerages cut their price targets on Hewlett-Packard Co's stock, after the no. 1 PC maker posted an $ 8.9 billion loss and narrowed its full-year earnings outlook, echoing concerns raised by rival Dell Inc about faltering demand ... HP mirrors Dell's bleak outlook

"The sound brought our group to a stop; we turned around to see the ice mass collapse with a roar. A section of the glacier crumbled in the middle, and chunks of ice as big as rooms spilled out on the crater floor."

A description given by adventurer Vince Keipper as he summitted the top of Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro and looked back. The fact is, the beautiful glaciers which give Mount Kilimanjaro its distinct appearance are disappearing at an alarming rate. Legendary author, Ernest Hemingway once used the following description to illustrate those 12,000 year old legendary peaks, "as wide as all the world, great, high, and unbelievably white in the sun", but, few can say that now. Those very glaciers have lost 82 percent of their ice since 1912, and at the current rate of erosion, they will be ancient history by the year 2020. This is only one example of the devastating affect global warming is having on our environment.

So what does all of this have to do with technology? .....A lot!

Rapid technological change, low initial cost and even planned obsolescence have resulted in a high rate of turnover for network hardware appliances, creating a fast growing problem around the globe. IT manufacturers with financial incentives are brilliant at encouraging customers to buy the next iteration of their product, even if the existing one still works. The short lifespan of today's IT equipment such as, de-installed routers and network switches from manufacturers such as Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, Nortel, Foundry and Extreme are contributing to a new form of scenery like, mountains of e-waste. Accumulated e-waste is either dumped in landfill sites or recycled in the secondary market. They are often processed in poorly managed facilities, in developing countries, leading to significant health risks and causing a major negative impact on the environment.

Did you know that chemicals such as lead, mercury, and cadmium emitt ed from discarded electronics are some of the biggest producers of greenhouse gases worldwide? A typical router or switch may contain more than 2% lead by weight, and up to thirty-eight separate chemical elements. A 24kg PC or server from manufacturers such as HP, Dell, Sun and IBM needs at least 240kg of fossil fuels and 22kg of chemicals to provide its energy. Compare this with cars or refrigerators, which use only between one and two times their weight in fossil fuels. Furthermore, The UN warns that people could be exposed to health risks at both ends of the short lifespan of networking equipment. Chemicals such as brominated, flame retardants and heavy metals including lead and cadmium pose potential risks to factory workers and can also contaminate water supplies near landfill sites where old computers are dumped.

Due to lower environmental standards and working conditions in China, India, Kenya, and elsewhere, electronic waste is being sent to these countries for processing - in most cases illegally. The majority of defunct and junked e-waste ends up being broken down by ill-equipped laborers in hazardous conditions. Uncontrolled burning and disposal are causing environmental and health problems due to the methods of processing the waste. Slowly, these disposal methods emit harmful gases which deplete our atmosphere and have emerged as a major contributor to global warming.

Each year, more than 130 million computers are produced worldwide. In the United States alone, an estimated 14 to 20 million PCs and network appliances are thrown out each year, while developing nations are expected to triple their output of all electronic waste by 2010. By 2005, more than 250 million personal computers will become obsolete. This is evidenced by the average lifespan of PCs, which is falling from 4.5 years in 1992 to an estimated 2 years in 2005. Across the European Union, electrical equipment is the fastest growing category of rubbish, wit h around 20kg per person produced every year, and, "the UK alone is now generating around 1m tons of the stuff every year," said energy minister Malcolm Wicks.

If you do the math, it is clear, that the current trend of mass production with no regard for corporate social responsibility cannot continue. If we continue at our current rate of consumption, our children can look forwards to inheriting a world with blistering temperatures, severe storms, and 13 of the world's 15 largest cities submerged by seawater. Imagine a complete loss of coral reefs, the disappearance of Pacific islands, the extinction of thousands of species of plants and animals, contamination of fresh water supplies and more than a hundred million refugees. Those of us who have not been living under a rock have, no doubt, already noticed a drastic change in the last 2 years alone.

It is no coincidence that 2005 brought the onslaught of the deadliest hurricane season on record, climaxing on Mond ay, 29 August 2005, when Hurricane Katrina careened into the Gulf Coast, putting 80% of New Orleans under water, resulting in the nation's most costly natural disaster ever recorded. Katrina claimed more than 1,600 lives, destroyed 200,000 Gulf Coast homes, and displaced about 1 million people. But, that is nothing compared to the devastation and loss of life experienced just one year prior, when on December, 26th the deadliest tsunami in history pummeled the coast of Southern Asia, and shocked the world with a reported death toll at more than 300,000 people. Most recently, and fortunately, less costly than the previous examples cited, are recent reports about the 2006/2007 winter being the warmest and driest on record.

How many more weather related records do we need to break before we wake up? How many more people need to lose their lives through violent weather changes? Global warming is real, and we can not continue looking the other way. It is because of this lac k of awareness that environmental impact is seldom a major factor in corporate buying decision. However, the consumption culture as we know it, is about to drastically change.

This information is not intended to scare you, but rather to serve as evidence to the changing world around us. Human beings are a robust species, and historically we have always adjusted to survive. We need to acknowledge the signs around us and react before it's too late. For years now, the United Nations and Greenpeace have been warning of the dangers that computers, IT hardware and other office equipment pose to the environment. This change will begin with awareness, and ultimately result in a radical new green ideology.

The days when businesses could send a product into the marketplace without first considering how it might impact the environment are over. Global recycling and product recovery programs, where businesses take responsibility for what they make and sell are already under way worldwide.

Soon, green legislation will have an impact on every manufacturer in the world. "Not far from now, 'non-green' parts will be assigned end of life status and green legislation will come to impact every single PC manufacturer," said Mike Escherich, the principal research analyst at Gartner (leading information and technology research and advisory firm). "The worldwide market should expect to see longer lead times, part shortages and rising prices for non-compliant parts over the next two years. These costs will probably be passed on to consumers. Analyst firm Gartner estimates that it could add about £30 to the price of a new PC in Europe. A small price to pay for our future generations well being.

After many delays, The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations governing the safe disposal of IT equipment were finally passed into law in the European Union, confirming that the new legislation will come into full effect in July of 2 007. The law will place a greater administrative burden on suppliers of computer equipment. They will have to register with waste schemes and more closely track their products in order to pay for their disposal. Under the new law, manufacturers will have until March, 15th 2007 to register with approved disposal schemes, and by 1 April all new equipment will have to be marked with WEEE labels displaying a crossed out wheelie bin and date code. The directive will then come into full effect on 1 July, with producers taking responsibility for treating and recycling household and business WEEE.

The first of its kind, but certainty not the last, this pioneering green computer law, is setting the stage for the future. Similar laws and regulations are being considered now in the United States. Congress is debating a number of electronic waste bills including the National Computer Recycling Act introduced by Congressman Mike Thompson (D-CA). This bill has continually stalled , however. In the meantime, several states have passed their own laws regarding electronic waste management. California was the first state to enact such legislation, followed by Maryland, Maine, and Washington. It is only a matter of time until general ethics evolve to include electronic waste disposal. For our children, the idea of throwing an old monitor in the dumpster will be as unsettling as it is form some of us to throw trash on the floor.

Several new businesses have emerged to meet this new demand, and help companies comply with the new legislation outlines for approved disposal schemes. One such company was recently established by the CEO of Digital Warehouse and UsedCisco.com, Joe Asady. The new business is called, Network Recycler.com. "Our model is to help protect the environment by providing a system and environmentally friendly way of disposing of end of life network equipment" said Mr. Asady. He then enthusiastically elaborated on his concept, "Netwo rkRecycler.com will be your single source recycling service provider. We can help you stay in compliance with government regulations by properly disposing of your obsolete and excess network and communication equipment". NetworkRecycler.com has opened offices in New York, Amsterdam and Bangalore, India to help meet the growing worldwide demand for recycling network hardware. Everyone at the newly established business is very excited about the recent ideological changes sweeping Europe, and soon to reach the United States. Mr. Asady described his team as enthusiastic and optimistic, "people here are excited about making a difference, and it is really nice to be a part of something that is helping protect the world we live in". Several other similar companies are forming worldwide, and soon, an entirely new industry will emerge from the concept of E-waste recycling.

Mr. Asady's vision does not end there. As the CEO of both Digital Warehouse and UsedCisco.com he has bee n protecting the environment since 1998. Both businesses fore mentioned are major players in the global secondary market for used network hardware. Facilitated by the new awareness for computer recycling, an already, $ 3 billion dollar used network hardware industry is poised to grow considerably in the upcoming years. "Traditionally, people would shy away from used equipment because of the inherent risk that it presented", Claimed Mr. Asady. "However, with current competition in the secondary market we have raised our quality standards. We now provide guarantee's that outlast even the original warranty given when the unit was new".

Used network equipment is often renovated by various resellers such as Digital Warehouse. Afterwards, they are sold in the secondary market at up to 90% off of list price. Products are available even in the most sophisticated and obscure models, and when they come with a warranty that supersedes even that of the original manufacturer cus tomers are often jubilated with the value. Not to mention, when they buy used equipment they are also helping to eliminate e-waste and protect our environment.

One in every dozen computers used worldwide is a "secondary computer," and about 152.5 million used systems were shipped in 2004, according to a study released Wednesday by market research firm Gartner. Gartner also said that both the home and professional markets for secondary PCs will continue to see growth in the next several years, fueled by better computer performance, longer system life, and recent recycling legislation that gives companies a greater incentive to sell their used machines. I am sure Mr. Asady and his team will have their hands full in the coming years with the recent explosion of wealth and opportunity in places like India and China. Through recent advances in technology, coupled with complex new economic foreign policies abroad, developing countries are much more likely to accept used hard ware as a viable technology option because of the savings they afford.

To put this all into perspective, I want to cite the following example: When Henry Ford invented the automobile, the world was transformed by its speed and convenience, but few people considered what millions of automobiles might mean for the world's energy supply and climate a century down the road. Hopefully, we can learn from the lessons of our ancestors during the industrial revolution, and preemptively react for the current computer revolution sweeping our planet. The days when businesses could send a product into the marketplace without first considering how it might impact the environment are over. Global recycling and product recovery programs, where businesses take responsibility for what they make and sell, require little effort on the part of consumers, and they pay off!

Whether you are an IT manager, global CEO or a mere home PC user, the implications are the same. E-waste is a pr oblem, e-waste is real! Although we are taking some steps in the right direction, a lot more needs to be considered. So please, do your share to get involved with e-waste awareness, help efforts to reduce energy demand and greenhouse gas emissions and start to consider the secondary market as a viable alternative to purchasing new equipment. Most importantly, help spread the word!!

A lot of people are not really aware of the true quality of an SMS gateway service that they can get once they decide to make use of its features. Furthermore, many people will be able to share their multimedia message to other people that have mobile devices that are also compatible with these multimedia messages. Because of this service along with several more that are available, people who are planning on using these SMS gateways should make sure that they choose the one that is perfect for their needs. Best answer for a good computer gaming desktop?:

Answer by Toni
Take a look at this company: http://www.alienware.co.uk/main.aspx

Answer by zack
Honestly, you're not going to get a gaming computer for that little, unless you build it yourself. I can't help you in price, but you want a good graphics card, at least 1GB. NVidia is the top of the line. You want at least 3 GB of RAM, go up to as much as 8. Depends on what you want to spend. RAM is what your computer uses to process actions. It regulates how fast your computer is. Processor, you want at least an Intel Core 2 Duo, nothing less, more is always better. You want this for any sort of multitasking. Gaming computers don't need a very large hard drive. Dell is your best bet, but if you have the money, Alienware is the best.

Answer by Akash_Raj
Your budget is quite low. I dont recommend Dell PCs as they tend to have more trouble. But generally I dont prefer branded desktops. Get this PC: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883103237 Get this Monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009216 Then add in a graphics card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161303 Thats all what is required to be thrashing all present and future modern games in HIGHEST settings. You cannot get a better machine than this for such low budget. You will get a shit computer from Dell under 500 bucks.

Answer by Mark
Hi i'm 14 and I think you should build one yourself you can save about £200 if you choose the right parts I have built a really good gaming computer for £370. Building a computer is really easy it's kind of like lego. If I was you I would start researching in to building a computer right now.

Answer by sicksotey
To be honest you wont be able to find a decent gaming computer for that. I built my computer (which is cheapest) spent $ 800. I highly suggest building one or getting someone to build it. My computer from dell would probably run me 2 grand. But I guess from your pre-built options dell is alright. I saw alienware mentioned here, they are very good but expensive. And now they have been taken over by dell so I'm pretty sure their going to loose their reputation as being a gaming leader. My biggest recommendation is wait until you have more money.

Today if a customer is looking around for brand new system or a refurbished system, both of these are now found easily. All multi-national brand companies are now focusing more on selling refurbished computers and laptops in the world along with brand new systems and laptops.

Following the other leading brands HP Co. is now also involved in providing refurbished systems and laptops with amazing conditions which looks just like as if they are brand new systems and laptops. On other hand HP always brings you the best of all in terms of reliability, durability and expandability is really awesome by HP Co.

Actually some people have this perception that these branded or unbranded systems and laptops are way to messed up, they do not have any kind of messed up accessories if they have it they are checked thoroughly and then resold in the market as it's a matter of the company's image. These HP laptops are really good and their customer service is also well known too, because they offer some good customer relationship which is an advantage for Hp.

Some brands are so famous and excellent that they never let you down in their performance and in their technical specifications, sometimes you have to pay little more but you get what you are paying for and that's the biggest advantage with HP and Dell brands.

In conclusion getting a refurbished HP systems or laptops is always a really good option to go with and plus you get more benefits and cheaper prices.

People who'd never even owned a PC were going to the shops and asking for an iPad - not a tablet, but specifically an iPad, since that was the sum total of their knowledge of the tablet market. But now that the Apple-Samsung case has been covered on ... 5 Ways Apple Could Lose Out From its Victory Over Samsung

The last decade has been a wonderful time for Gold Bugs and Silver Bugs. We have profited and protected our wealth against inflation. Gold has risen from around $ 250 per ounce in 2001 to a recent high of $ 1917.90 and silver has risen from around $ 5 per ounce in 2001 to a recent high of $ 49.81. These numbers are quite exciting for anyone involved in the precious metals markets. Being a Silver Bug myself, I have to admit the ride up has been rather erratic. Long ago I had to learn to ignore the daily Comex price of Silver. Gold and Silver will continue to be an important part of my future holdings, but going forward I am beginning diversification into other metals. Here is a brief overview of some of the rare industrial metals I like and why I believe they are a good choice for anyone who believes in holding physical metals as part of their asset strategy.

There are many who believe the world is in a recession and this may be true in the USA, EU, and other Western nations. There are a few of us who still believe that the speed of industry and commerce is accelerating. I have spent time in Africa, had an opportunity to live in Europe for a few years and I currently live in Panama. This experience has opened my eyes to what is happening outside of the USA. What I see is a great mass of people who were once walking now driving cars. These same people are talking on mobile phones, watching television on a flat screen, using their laptop at a café, getting better medical care, flying on vacations, living in modern homes and working jobs that require technology. This is happening across the planet! Can you imagine the impact on demand for rare industrial metals from countries of the BRIC, (Brazil, Russia, India, China), with the size of their populations? Like it or not commercialization was tested in the USA and was a huge success and now it has been exported worldwide. Here in Panama with a population of just over 3 Million we are adding 3000 automobiles a month to the roads. There are enough mobile phones in Panama to give every citizen 3 handsets. All of this takes a lot of natural resources and metals. Below are some of the important metals I would like to introduce to you.

Tantalum, the rare technical and industrial metal that gives technology the ability to be compact. Have you ever wondered why we no longer have to carry around mobile phones the size of a brick? The tantalum capacitor was a revolutionary invention for the world. Today you find tantalum in all of your personal electronics. Tantalum is now being used in medical implants because it is non-toxic and does not react with body fluids. It is also used in jet aircraft as an alloying agent. Current worldwide production of tantalum is approximately 1160t annually. By 2030 just the demand is estimated to be 1410t. A few years back there was a lot of controversy surrounding tantalum because of its "Conflict Metal" tag. The metal wa s originally being mined in the Congo but most tantalum is mined in Australia, Brazil, and Canada.

Indium, how do you like that touch screen on your mobile phone? This rare technical and industrial metal has become a star among the elements recently. Indium's uses in phones, computers, semi-conductors and televisions are well known. The one use that I would really like to highlight is in CIGS (copper-indium-gallium-selenide) thin film solar cells. These solar panels are the latest technology to hit the solar industry. Recently we have heard India, Japan, USA, Germany, Spain and many other countries announce huge solar initiatives. India alone signed into law a US $ 19 billion plan to produce 20 GW of solar power by 2020. Under the plan, the use of solar-powered equipment and applications would be made compulsory on all government buildings, as well as hospitals and hotels. This initiative alone will use up all the entire world's production of solar cells. According to the USGS 84% of all indium production is currently used in solar cell production. Current worldwide production of Indium is approximately 600t per year. The future amount of indium required will depend greatly on the solar industry. Indium is mined in China, Canada, Bolivia and Japan.

Cobalt, have you driven a hybrid or electric vehicle lately? This rare technical and industrial metal is one of the elements that makes the batteries in these cars possible. Cobalt is also used in pigments, super-alloys, non-corrosive medical implants, dental implants and jet engines. The top use today is as an alloy to make metals resistant to corrosion. The one I see real promise in is the use of hybrid and electric vehicle batteries. By 2012 the estimated sales of hybrid vehicles worldwide is approximately 2.2 Million and by 2015 to be at least 10% of the world auto market. Currently the biggest hurdle to these vehicles is the added cost and the ability to produce enough batteries to meet the demand. Cobalt has gained a lot of attention since the London Metal Exchange (LME) launched a cobalt contract in February 2010. Current worldwide production of cobalt is approximately 57,500t annually. The future is bright for cobalt. Every aircraft that goes in the air and every hybrid vehicle sold will put greater pressure on the supply of this metal. Cobalt is mined in Australia, Congo, Russia, Zambia and a few other countries.

These are just a few of the metals that our world needs to operate and the future is looking great for all commodities. I like the rare technical and industrial metals because of the tight supply and all of the wonderful uses for them. The mining of these metals is often a by-product of base metal like copper, lead and zinc. Most of the large deposits have been found and are in production. This translates into a very tight supply for the future and profits for investors. Silver and Gold have been my metals of choice for many years, b ut I see great opportunity for the person who is adventurous and willing to add another asset to their portfolio before the masses catch on.

One Tip to Avoid the Most Deadly Travel Mistakes [bestcomputersprices.blogspot.com]

The atmosphere of Belvedere's, a dive bar on Butler Street in Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville neighborhood â€" with its stage and pool tables and little in the way of ambiance â€" was completely transformed by the bass. ..... to "play" any electronic ... Beyond lies the wub: a history of dubstep

The kids are grown and out of the house so my husband and I planned a long overdue vacation to South Dakota. We had not been on vacation in years so we were like two teenagers who just got the keys to their parent's car to do whatever we wanted. Footloose and fancy free we were going to be leaving the TV behind, phones at work, computer, and all those other electronics that take up the majority of our day.

Forgot To Plan For His Forgetfulness

We didn't want every minute planned; we were in for an adventure. We wanted to take things in as they came and just go with the flow. We rented a SUV because it seemed to fit in more with our escapade not to mention a SUV was better equip for the terrain of the southwest than our Ford Focus was. My husband Joseph did MapQuest for our final destination and the way home.

If we saw something on the way we wanted to see, well then we would stop and see it. Everything was packed and ready to go. We d id one final sweep to make sure the stove was off, and the garbage was out, and let the neighbors know we were leaving. In our excitement to leave, we soon discovered about 50 miles into the trip that Joseph left the directions he had printed out on the kitchen counter.

I could kick myself because of all things I did not want to plan, I couldn't have planned my husband forgetting the directions. This was his MO but we didn't let it get us down. This was not a problem, we thought we would stop and get a map and do it old school like back in the day. Our first stop to a gas station of course did not have a map of South Dakota, we were not anywhere near our destination.

Lost In The Cornfields

So we got a map of Illinois. We figured we would probably have to get a map in every state until we reached South Dakota! We really were living up to our pledge to have an adventure when we saw a sign for a restaurant we saw on TV and wanted to stop there .

After a very good lunch, (Diners, Dives, and Drive-Inn's were right it was good) we started out to get back on the highway and discovered ourselves lost in the corn fields somewhere in Illinois. Every intersection was a corn field. As far as you could see, there was corn. I looked in the glove box of our rented SUV for anything that would help no luck.

Hitchhiker In The Console

Then I opened the center console and this beam of sunlight shined down upon a Garmin like something out of a movie. I expected to hear music playing in mid air when I saw it. It was like an angel. I was not a stranger to GPS. We did not rely on GPS that much because we never went anywhere until now.

We had the other brand, you know, the one that goes by the beat of its own drum like Tom Tom. The first thing I noticed when I turned it on was how fast it got a signal. That is one reason I didn't use the Tom Tom that much because I could be at my destination by the time it received a signal.

Chris and I were very excited to see this. We had no idea if it just came with the SUV or if the last person to use this truck left it in here, but we were happy to see it. We didn't have a manual but it was not very hard to figure out how to use it. We entered the information in for the general area we wanted to go and in a matter of a minute; the Garmin was talking to us telling us how to get back on the highway and on our way.

Saw Much More Than If Winging It

That's the other nice thing we noticed, Garmin talks to you unlike the other brand. We had a long way ahead of us so I played around and found out the Garmin is loaded with information. It will tell you every restaurant close by, where hotels and motels are. Even places of interest are listed.

If I had known Garmin had all this, we would not be relying on our "if we see it we will stop" motto. There were so many interesting things to see on the w ay that were not necessarily along the beaten path. You had to make some slight detours, but some were well worth it. We saw much more with the help of Garmin that we would have seen by winging it.

It even made sure you knew what lane you were supposed to be in with what they call "lane assist". It told you how fast you were going and even blinked if you were exceeding the speed limit. Took me awhile to figure that out but I thought that was way cool!

You may be finding it hard to believe in this day in age but we are not high tech people. We have regular cell phones and just started using texting to communicate with our children. But you don't have to be electronic savvy to use a Garmin. It really was very user friendly and did not take long to discover all the extra things it was capable of doing.

No Way Are We Traveling Without This Hitchhiker Again

This company really put a lot of thought into this in our opinion. And we don't eve n know all it can do yet. We still had our adventure and even though we wanted to do this without the use of electronic gadgets, we were so happy we had the Garmin. We didn't miss the TV, or computer, and such but if I ever went on a long trip like this again there is no way we would go without it.

When we got back home we went online and found a great website loaded with information and the best place to buy a Garmin for the best price. I also have some of my Christmas shopping done as we decided to get a Garmin 1350LMT for each of our children. We learned a little more when we got home that the LMT means lifetime maps and traffic updates that Garmin provides.

What else will they think of? Despite our resistance to succumb to the electronic age, there are some advantages to being an electronic gadget junkie. So honey, where do you want to go next?

Is There Such Thing As a Best Home Based Computer Business? [bestcomputersprices.blogspot.com]

The stock has fallen 15.2 percent in the past week, since the world's largest PC maker and its biggest U.S. competitor, Dell, announced earnings that confirmed analysts' fears about a waning market for standard computers in an iPad world. "It's like ... Biz Break: Hewlett-Packard continues to struggle as Wall Street holds steady

To say that there is one home business that is the best home based computer business is virtually impossible to do. If this were the case, everyone would be flaunting to that one business hoping to strike gold. The reason there is not one business that is the best is because the internet is the land of opportunities. Every business has the potential to be the best online business out there.

With that said, there are several different opportunities that have a better potential for success than others. While part of the success comes from the business itself, the other part comes from how it is run and how much time and effort you put forth. But this is for another article. So what home based computer businesses are out there for you?

If you think about it, what is the one thing that every web site needs to keep people coming back for more? Content! For how important quality content is to running a successful business, it is amazing how many people lack the s kill of writing fresh and enticing content. And for this very reason, starting an article writing business has great potential.

As long as you are a decent writer and do not mind writing a lot, you can easily start your own business. The tough part about this is marketing and getting people to come to your site. But through writing articles and submitting them to directories and hanging around forums, you will begin to generate traffic and get your business rolling.

The next best home based computer business venture did not exist a decade ago. eBay has turned into a powerhouse on the internet and people are selling their rags and making riches. What you may see as junk others may see as treasure. It is puzzling to think that you could make a business off of selling your own things. But what people have begun to do is purchase items that are sold in few and selling them for far more than the retail price. A classic example of this is PlayStation 3 and iPhones.

The last worthy home based computer business is simply creating your own web site and selling products, eBooks, or any other marketing information to help people become a better home businessman. As the internet continues to grow, more and more people are looking to find information that will give them the extra edge. With a great deal of research and a lot of time and patience, you can put together an eBook, training packet, or informational products to help rookies on the internet.

It is difficult to pinpoint the best home based computer business because of the depth the internet has to offer. But the three business opportunities listed in this article offer great potential. It is up to you to jump on these opportunities and make the most of them.

Gaming Laptop Review - Gateway P-7808U FX [bestcomputersprices.blogspot.com]

Eleven major hotel chains are routinely breaching British government guidelines and advertising standards rules by not including VAT in headline prices online, and more items in our roundup of the stories that are making news and driving opinion on 30 ... The Scan: UK hotels scolded for online rate display, the first use of Facebook ...

Gateway, Inc. is noted for its innovations that helped shape the technology industry. The company pioneered the 'built to order' production system and direct sales model which allowed it to sell computers at low costs. Gateway is also noted as the first computer company to sell its products online (in 1996).

Founded in 1985, the company grew into one of America's best-known brands and during the 1990s consistently appeared on the Fortune 500 list. By 2000, however, the company saw its finances take a drastic turn as it slipped out of Fortune's list. In October 2007, Gateway was acquired by Taiwan-based Acer Inc., and the combined entities now comprise the third-largest PC company in the world.

Design-wise, the Gateway 7808u FX Edition follows the same pattern used in previous gaming models particularly the P-7811 FX. The orange and black color combo remains ditto the chassis, keyboard, trackpad. Many users point out this design needs to be updated or even r eplaced.

The 7808u FX Edition's biggest offering is in its use of the Core 2 Duo Q9000 quad-core processor. That processing capability is combined with 4GB of RAM, a GeForce 98000 graphics chip with 1 GB of VRAM and a 500GB of hard disk space. That combo assures the user that this laptop can take on today's most demanding games.

The 7808u FX Edition features three USB ports, an HDMI port and an eSATA port. There is also an eSATA external hard drive and other ports that include VGA, Gigabit Ethernet, modem, an ExpressCard/54 slot, and a 5-in-1 memory card reader.

Like the display, we were also disappointed with the quality of the speakers in the 7808u FX Edition.

SPECS AVAILABLE OPTIONS (From Gateway's website) CPU - 2.0-GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 RAM - 4GB Screen Size - 17 inches Operating System - Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit with SP1) Battery Life - About 3 hours Graphics - 1GB Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTSPros

The use of the Core 2 Duo Q9000 quad-core processor combined with 4GB of RAM, a GeForce 98000 graphics chip with 1 GB of VRAM and a 500GB of hard disk space is one great combination we would recommend. That combo assures the user that the Gateway 7808u FX Edition can handle today's most demanding games with ease.

Cons

The Gateway 7808u FX Edition's 1440×900 display is a disappointment from a gaming perspective. At the price the unit is being offered, we expected a 1920×1200 resolution. We also felt, like many users that the design of the 7808u is getting outdated; time for Gateway to bring in new ideas. The sound system on the 7808u also leaves much to be desired.

Conclusion

Performance-wise, the Gateway 7808u FX Edition passes with flying colors. For the not-so-serious gamer, that criteria alone can be a basis to go out and get himself a unit. However, serious gamers look for the total experience - the proces sing power along with the audio and visual treat that a gaming device offers. It is in the latter two criteria that we felt the Gateway 7808u FX Edition disappoints.

Question by ScoobyD_1966: What is the best way to restore an old computer? I have a Gateway computer that is about six years old. Runs ok but has many unused programs that I can't get off it etc... I got it before I knew how to use one and really mucked it up. I'm thinking it would be better restored back to it's original factory settings if possible. Where does one go to get this done and what is a fair price? Thanks for the answers. I suspect your right. It would most likely be in my best interest to just break down and buy a new PC. We have three PC's in the house. One is new. I've had this one so long that it's like an old car... I'm just attached to it. LOL You know how it is... It's been with me awhile, I know all of it's quirks and am basically the only one in the house who can run it so it stays in my office. Your answers were great. Thanks again! Rod Best answer for What is the best way to restore an old computer?:

There should have been a restore disc sent with the computer when it was new. If you lost it you're kind of screwed. What is the processor speed? If it's less than 2gb it may be time to bite the bullet and get a new PC.

Answer by Majestic One
I'm guessing that you don't have the orginal Gateway recovery CD's or disks that came with your computer. There are several ways that you can this, but I'm not sure if they'll be worth it. 1. You can use your Gateway Recovery software, or find someone with a Gateway recovery disk that has a computer similar to yours in age and specs and try to recover your software that way. 2. You can format your hard drive, but if you do this method you MUST have an Operating System CD (i.e. Windows 98, Windows XP, Linux) that you can install or else your computer will just sit idle after startup. I would only go this route if you cannot find a Gateway Recovery CD because there will be a lot of drivers that you will need to get that Windows (or whatever OS you go with), might not be able to automatically handle for you. Plus it is the most difficult way to restore a computer if you've never done so. 3. If you go anywhere to get this done they'll probably tell you that you'll come off better buying a new computer, and personally I would not pay anyone to restore a six year old computer, but if you must don't take it to Best Buy whatever you do!!! They charge WAY too much for any computer work. Take it to someone you know, trust, and know's a good bit about computers.

My world got smaller, my business grew five times over, and I got talking

I'm a web designer and I work wacky hours, push buttons on a computer, talk to a lot of people, send out email, drink coffee, like the Discovery Channel and enjoy running my own business. My business consists of working with people, helping businesses out, generating ideas, communicating with others, creating reports, talking to people. Sometime I talk about business, sometimes about the internet and sometimes I talk about nothing. If you catch me in an espresso moment, you'll probably want to stop talking to me after a while.

My business has clients that are everywhere in the world. My clients need me at all hours at times, hence the cappuccino moments. My clients want things done yesterday. My clients like good work, good communication, and good results. My clients can be demanding, abrasive or reactive. I put out fires to keep my clients happy, its part of my busin ess. Sometimes my clients can't wait for me to call and sometimes I can't wait to not talk to them at all. My business relies on me being in touch with my clients. These days, who do you know that does not need to be in touch with someone out there?

At the end of the day, I need to keep in touch with my business customers, because if I don't, I won't see any steak or cake next month.

I have a cell phone, a computer, a scanner, a printer, a telephone, a pda, a new iPod, a digital camera, some speakers, headphones, a wireless mouse and various other gadgets to keep my life simple and keep my business running smoothly. Little did I know that there is this something new out there called VOIP. Voice over Internet Protocol. Sounds high tech huh?

With all the phones, cell phones, internet phones, pagers and everything that is out there to communicate with, why would I now need VOIP?

Do I really need another device on top of another device? Do I really need t o figure out how to use another gadget? Do I need to download more software to my computer? What all do I have to buy now? I pride myself in being up to date and with the times and on top of all that is new out there, but this thing surprised me, because it's been out there already for a while. The more I looked in to it, the more I found there to be people subscribing to this technology of getting free, or shall we call it, unlimited long distance. I'll explain more about the technical parts of the technology a bit later.

Here's my most recent scenario of why I chose to even consider VOIP.

I recently moved to a community where for some reason I am out of the local calling area for the district that I live in. That's not exciting when all my clients live in the city and now it costs me money to make a simple phone call. Long distance during the day is not cheap yet. So I decided to look at my options.

Do I use my cell phone and make long di stance calls? If I did that, I run the risk of using up my valuable daytime minutes. It turns out, long distance on some cell phone plans are almost double the rate the normal landline rates. I can just see my bills now running close to a thousand a month.

Second option was email to stay in touch with everyone. Email is great, but when you need that answer right away or a simple yes or no, somehow it just did not work out for me. I'd heard the common feedback, "Sorry, I was away from the computer", "My computer has a virus", "What email?" Don't get me wrong, I rely on email daily, but for some matters it just was not there for that instant touch.

I called the phone company and they gave me a few options. Would add a bit extra on to the phone bill, but I was limited to time and to when I would be able to make call. Sure I can make call during the day, but guess what, climb that money tree and shake some more coins out of it.

I tried downloading some of these free long distance internet software applications. Worked fine, but to have free calls, others would wither have to have the same software and they would need to be in front of their computers. Remember, their computer is still in the shop and they are away from it most of the time. Don't get me wrong, for some people, these systems work great and productivity is greatly increased. My issue was I could not get everyone I wanted on board to download the software without me having to troubleshoot and guide through the usage.

Then I talked to a friend and she told me about the service she was using for all her long distance needs. Somehow I do recall her calling me from Toronto and us talking forever about nothing. Then the following week she called me from New York and we talked again. I began to wonder what her phone bill was like every month. So I asked her.

It turns out she was and still is paying a flat rate per month and gets unlimited long distance calling a nywhere in North America.

What? Run that by me again? Unlimited, there's no such thing as unlimited. There has to be limits. Even on some of these advertised cell phone plans where they tell you that it is unlimited, if you read the fine print, somewhere in there it says you are limited to ten thousand something or another.

I asked her for more information. She basically told me that she signed up with this company, they sent her an adapter, she plugs any home phone in to it, plugs the adapter in to the internet and starts calling. That's it. Any software downloads? Anybody else to call to set it up? Turns out, she simply went online, chose the package the wanted, the unlimited one of course, selected her phone number and within days had her phone adapter arrive in the mail. After that, wherever she traveled to, she would take the adapter with her, plug it in to the internet and start making calls. Best of all, people would call her on her local number and no mat ter where she was in North America, she would be able to take the call. If the was away from her phone, voicemail would kick in. If she decided she wanted to go mobile, she would call forward the calls to her mobile.

I called her a couple of times on her local number and instead of asking where she was in the city; I'd have to ask where she was in the country right now. Quality of the call was the same all the time. Unlimited means unlimited. Does not limit you to the city you are in, does not limit you to how many minutes you want to talk. Does not limit you from what device you want to talk from. That's this new thing called VOIP.

When she told me the price she was paying per month, I was immediately on the computer looking up the website and signing up. Obviously I ended up taking the unlimited plan for only $ 15 a month. This I had to try out.

So I go on with my day. I go on with my next day. Pushing buttons, sending emails, making calls when all of a sudden the mail dude finds my doorbell.

The package arrives.

The unlimited phone deal thing arrives. My answer arrives. The box arrives. The box with the thing inside arrives. You get the point.

Now what?

Eagerly I open the box only to find a small silver device within it. It's called the Sipura! Exciting.

I see it has some places where I can connect things to, so being the type of person that does not read manuals, I start plugging things in. One connection is obviously to my high speed internet connection. Another connection looks like a phone connection. Last one would be the power to give it juice. Done.

Now what?

I look around the box looking for software, but see none. Something is wrong. Now I dig out the manual and look to see what I do next. Apparently nothing, start making calls. Ok, this is way too simple. I pick up my phone receiver and hear a dial tone. Now, I could get in to what that meant to me and ho w it made me feel, but we won't go in to that right now. I call my friend only to find I have a connection and I can communicate. It's that simple. I call another friend who is 3 hours in a different time zone, works just perfect. I more people and my working day is now corrupted calling friends and family with whom I haven't talked to in ages. Another new wonder in my life.

What I did find out after the fact was that I also had all these cool features included in the price of my plan. Voicemail, caller ID, call forwarding, 3 way calling and more. Yikes, I would be paying how much extra with the phone or cellular companies just to have them. When you do you research, you find that most, if not all, VOIP service providers have these features included in their plans. Another benefit and star for VOIP.

Something I did like right away was that the adapter is about the size of my wallet. I can easily stow it away in my laptop bag and take it with me wherever I go out of town and still make call without paying long distance - day or night.

On to the technical part ... we'll keep this brief.

VOIP is short for Voice over Internet Protocol. Some companies will call this technology broadband phone service, digital phone service, voice over IP, internet phone service and other variations on this name. Basically what it means is that is allows you to send and receive audio, such as your voice, back and forth over the Internet. IP is the acronym for Internet Protocol and is the standard for sending and receiving information over the Net. The adapter that you receive from you VOIP company in most cases is called the ATA adapter (Analog Telephone Adapter) and this will convert your analog audio signal (which is your great voice) and to a digital signal so that it can be transmitted via the internet. By doing this, you are bypassing the local telephone company and making and receiving call over the internet. Hence the n ame Voice over IP. For most providers, it's as simple as taking the ATA adapter out of the box, plugging your phone in to the device and start making phone calls. There are also IP phones which are dedicated VOIP telephones. Instead of having the standard RJ-11 connections, they have a RJ-45 Ethernet connection. Once again, take the phone, plug it in and off you go.

Where to get this voip unlimited long distance service?

There are a number of voip providers out there from offering various services, deals and promotions. Explore your options, determine your needs, and ask questions.

At the end of the day, I ended up getting a few of my friends and clients signed up with VOIP. They're happy, especially when some of them opted for the service provider that offered 2 months free unlimited plans.

Anyways, it's getting late here and I should be off to bed. Then again, someone out in New York is just getting up and really deserves an early m orning call from me to let them know I'm thinking of them.
