Question by ♥ Liz ♥: Computer gurus: which iMac is best for me? My family has a 2002 Dell that is unbelievably slow. I don't know how to find out any of the information as far as memory and the hard drive are concerned. Only one person in the house uses it, but she uses it daily and needs a computer that works, and from time to time the rest of us use it too. We've settled on an iMac after success with Apple laptops and are figuring out the details. There are four iMacs available at the moment: 1. 20-inch : 2.66GHz 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2GB memory 320 GB hard drive 8x double-layer SuperDrive NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics $ 1,199.00 2. 24-inch : 2.66GHz 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB memory 640 GB hard drive 8x double-layer SuperDrive NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics $ 1,399.00 3. 24-inch : 2.93GHz 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB memory 640 GB hard drive 8x double-layer SuperDrive NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 with 256MB memory $ 1,799.00 4. 24-inch : 3.06GHz 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB memory 1TB hard drive 8x double-layer SuperDrive NVIDIA GeForce GT 130with 512MB memory $ 2,099.00 (http://store.apple.com/us-hed/browse/home/shop_mac/family/imac?cid=AOS-US-Edu-.com-05042009) Which is the best computer for our situation considering the quality of the computer AS WELL as the price? Also, when buying the computer, what all comes with the computer and what do we have to buy extra? Thanks so much, 10 points best answer: Best answer for Computer gurus: which iMac is best for me?:

OK, I will start off by saying I hate MAC'S computers. But I do know a lot about them. A lot of my sales guys have them. With MACS the higher you get up in price the better they are. But for you I would say the the Number 2 one is good for you. but you can get that same one with windows 7 on it for about 699.99. But hey your money. Have a great day.

Ok First Off The Number 4. You Can Buy An HP Computer Just As Good If Not Better For Half That Price, For The Mac's You're Just Paying For The Brand Not The Performance. No Way In The World Is A Computer THat Does That Little Worth 2 Thousand Dollars If you buy a computer straight up from a store, it will have everything you need included.

24 Inches, 2.66 Ghz. in my opinion, what matters to me is the Screen Size. not the speed.. but 2.66ghz is decent.at 4gb. just for regular use. but if your a pro,u can go larger.

i would go for no 2 or no 3, u wont notice much difference except the screen size, but bigger is probs better. There is really little difference between all imacs, just screen size and price, they all run soooooo smoothly, but the more expensive ones come with a few extra little really clever and useful features. Buy one from an apple store if possible, as the ppl there will help you an awful lot. Also if you dont you might get the leopard OS instead of the better, stronger, faster snowleopard OS. People who think you can get a pc that is as good as a mac for half as much are wrong, on paper the numbers may be the same, but there is a huge difference, one is a mac and one is a pc, that means the pc will crash all the time, give you cryptic error messages, be less user friendly and look a bit cheap and plasticy. While the apple will sit there, all shiny, elegant and understated, running smoothly and be so intuitive, you will never want to touch a pc again.

u should get the 20" because they are fast, they are a pretty big screen without upgrading to the 24", i have one and they are a good deal. Trust me they are worth the money. They dont get any of the pc viruses and they are a really nice computer and you dont have to worry about two seperate things, the moniter and the computer. Imacs are just one system and they are easy to use so get the 20" and you will fall in love with it.
