Essentially, the main thing that the motherboard does is it links all the components and power together into one system. Just as long as it isn't a low-quality piece of crap, fits in your case, and supports the components you need, I think you should be fine.

The motherboard is very important, you HAVE to make sure that all your components are compatible with your mother board, you have to make sure the mother board will fit in your case. then there are things such as bus speed which makes difference to performance. WoW isn't the most demanding game out there, so features such as multiple video card support offered by some advanced motherboards aren't particularly cost effective. Find a motherboard with the features you need - processor support obviously, USB 3.0 perhaps - and look for one at the inexpensive end. I admit to favoring ASUS and Gigabyte motherboards for trouble-free operation reputations. A great motherboard is often insignificantly more powerful than a good motherboard, but a bad one will drive you nuts figuring out how to work around the problems.

hi, honestly, if you are not even sure about the importance of a motherboard at the time of building a computer, the recommendation is that do not buy anything yet and research to learn more about components or just buy a brand new gaming computer. otherwise you will end up spending what you can use to buy 3 computers. dont try with anything expensive if have not experience cause when something fails, you wont even know what it is.

It’s amazing to be alive in this day and age when you can now get a laptop cheaper than the cost of a mobile phone or even a higher end NVIDIA GeForce video card. Only a 3 decades ago, a flat panel was unheard of, and a hard drive was 5 times the price of a $200 laptop today. $200 to spend on a laptop today gives you much better options that what they used to be. While you might not be able to play graphic intensive games or do video editing, they are more than enough for basic daily functions, like browsing the Internet or using office programs.
