Download and run the scanner here to find type/speed of RAM needed... http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/?click=true ©Techno

Answer by Connor
1. Open your computer (It will void your warranty) and see if there are open RAM slots, (If not you can replace them with larger RAM). 2. Google this: Compatible RAM for -Your computer model here-. 3. Now pick the best one suited to your computer or budget. 4. Order it and put it in. But I wouldn't recommend this for laptops as they're a lot more fiddly than desktops

Answer by Charlie Tuna
Memory Type: 204-Pin SO-DIMM Single-channel DDR3 SDRAM Memory Slots: 1 (You'll have to take out the RAM chip and replace it with the upgraded memory) Expandable to: 4Gb Recommended upgrade: 4GB DDR3 PC3-8500 • CL=7 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1066 • 1.5V • 512Meg x 64 • Part #: CT2177318 (Crucial.com) Cost: $ 22.99 + S/H/Taxes/etc. Note: Windows 7 64-bit can address the entire 4Gb, however the 32-bit version does not. Also some of the memory is shared with the video card. Everything you need to know about RAM -> http://www.computermemoryupgrade.net/types-of-computer-memory-common-uses.html

The trend with electronics has always been to make things as small as possible but still be useful. Sometimes that works and sometimes the trade off of size and power just doesn't. The netbook on the other hand, is the ultimate example of successful down sizing. Weighing in at an average of 3 lbs. or less and about the size of your favorite picture of uncle Harry at 8"x 10" and only 1" thick, we are talking compact.

Now instead of talking about what you can do with a netbook, let's talk about what you can't do. Ok, I'm done now... Seriously,I have a netbook and I use it as my primary computer and totally gave up my 11 pound 17" screen size Toshiba laptop. I have not found a single thing that I did on that behemoth of a computer that my little netbook can't do.

I am a heavy user of spreadsheets and I thought that might be an issue but I have to say with a scrolling mouse it is no problem. The 10 inch wide screen is incredibly clear and bright. Want to watch streaming video, play your favorite tunes or play everything except the most intensive games? The netbook is happy to play!

Wireless internet connectivity is seamless with my home network and I work outside on the patio during the beautiful spring and summer days. When the mood hits me I head for my favorite coffee shop with my netbook under my arm and answer my emails and browse the net while I get my caffeine fix.

The other great thing is I don't have to look for a plug half way through whatever I'm doing before the fatal black screen of battery failure. Battery life on the new netbooks is excellent and can keep you happy without power for 6-8 hours on a single charge. And...I don't know about you but I could fry an egg on my old laptop it ran so hot. The netbook doesn't break a sweat and I have never had a shutdown due to heat.

Want to connect your bluetooth devices, external DVD player, external monitor if you really need to? The netbooks have full conn ectivity so you can use everything you have purchased for your laptop or desktop computers.

Netbooks are becoming so popular that they are available from major manufactures such as Asus, Acer, Averatec, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI, and Samsung. They range in price from $ 300 - $ 400 which is a real bargain and if you haven't seriously looked at Netbooks I highly recommend you do.

Difference Between VoIP Digital Phone Service and Traditional Telephone Service [bestcomputersprices.blogspot.com]

This was made the week after the Canadiens got eliminated from the playoffs and then my computer broke so when I got it back, I completely forgot about it. Well here it is. Thanks for the clips: NHL Video Song Used: Estranged by: Guns N' Roses Program Used: Sony Vegas Pro 10

bestcomputersprices.blogspot.com Montreal Canadiens: Top 10 Plays of 2010-11

Traditional telephones consist of a phone that is connected to a land line. This form of communication is vulnerable to interference and delivery is much slower. Fortunately, advancements in technology have revolutionized they way we now communicate. The arrival of the Internet changed the way we converse. An important advancement in the communication industry is the development of VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) Digital Phone Service.

In Digital Voice over I.P., sound is changed to digital information and sent through the internet, and then changed back to its original form by way of digital reproduction. This means that you can make a call using your digital service through the internet. The high speed data transmission is the most advanced form of communication and is provided by Digital providers.

How VoIP / Internet Voice Works VoIP services transform your voice into a digital signal that travels over the Internet. Voice over IP allows people t o make a call from a computer, a I.P. phone, or a traditional phone linked to a adapter. As well, wireless set ups in areas like a coffee shop or business establishment, permit users to link to the Internet and use a IP wireless service.

Advantages of VoIP over Traditional Phone Services Digital phone services deliver clearer and faster voice quality than traditional phone services because there will not be any sound interference. As well, digital companies provide additional services that cannot be provided by traditional phone services. This can include: video and audio conferencing, 3 way calling, call waiting, caller ID and other services. As well, the cost of a VoIP phone services are much cheaper than traditional phone services, particularly long distance calls. For businesses, services can include web and video conferencing, calls directed to an Automated Attendant, screening where calls are directed, block certain phone numbers, or place them on virtual ri ng. As well, employees have the capability of holding virtual conferences.

When it comes to the price of International phone calls, traditional phone services are much higher than I.P. Traditional long distance phone charges are usually taxed. Because Voice over Internet Protocol is carried over the internet, taxes are very low. The cost of having a traditional phone line is much higher than having a VoIP phone line.

VoIP Phone Service Requirements Voice over Internet Protocol Digital Phone Service requires a high speed Internet service. A cable modem or high speed system such as DSL or a local area network can be used. You will also need a computer, adaptor, a phone suitable for I.P., and phone plugs. Some providers can accommodate a traditional phone attached to a adapter. Special software and a microphone are required when using a computer.

Advancements in phone technology seem to be making traditional phone services much less relevant in today's hig h speed world. Keeping up with technological advancements can seem like a difficult task. Customers are always pleased to learn how easy it is to switch to a VoIP phone service. When choosing a Voice over Internet Protocol service, it is important to shop around so you can get the most services at the best price. Resources are a great way to compare both business and residential phone services.

I love the MacBook Air. It manages to fuse the benefits of an amazing workspace in the form of its operating system with a form factor and weight that are the envy of all. I bought a first generation Air in 2008 and it still gets a Wow every time I pull it out at a meeting. However the original Air suffered from two major problems: Overheating and poor graphics performance. In fact the two problems are connected because the harder the computer worked to display graphics, the hotter it got. So Apple's solution to the problem was to slow down the processor when it got stressed. The good news is that it helped. The bad news is that it slowed down the computer. Apple came up with a 'fix' which is to slow down the computer whenever it got hot but Apple's algorithm sucked. The good news is that a Swedish guy called Magnus Lundholm came up with a small piece of software called Coolbook which provided a far superior solution to the problem. Without Coolbook, I would have throw n my Air through the window a long time ago. Thanks Magnus!

So now Apple have come out with a new design and as a veteran Air user, I have been asked what I think of it. Well the design is still cool and doesn't part too much from the original apart from being ever so slightly cooler (no pun intended). However the new Air now sports the following:

Bigger disks Solid state disks which mean cooler running, fewer technical problems (no moving parts) and instant-on. Faster performance. At least one benchmark shows performance equal to or exceeding the MacBook Pro 13". 2 USB ports (finally!) An SD memory card slot (only in the 13" model) Higher resolution screen Lower price (maybe this one should have been first!) Longer battery life

On the downside, Apple have taken away the backlit keyboard and its still pricey, but more and more people are getting the fact that working on a Mac is far more productive than PC/Windows and that the time saved makes it worth every extra penny.

So the bottom line is that this is not only a PC/Windows killer, but it also offers fantastic value for money if you were thinking of a MacBook Pro.

Once you have settled on usually the most installed computer TV software, then you can visit their website for a quick download. Look for softwares that have very high image and audio quality. In addition, they should a have a respectable number of online TV channels that you ca n get on your PC.

Everybody wants to buy a computer TV software that works and at a discount price. The good thing is that most of the PC online free TV softwares cost an average of between $ 37-$ 50. The factors that you should consider that will be discussed in this buyers guide are needs, budget, platform, specification and style.

When considering buying a tablet PC, you should think about your needs and whether if you really need a tablet. The great Steve Jobs once described the Apple iPad as a tablet that fits somewhere between laptops and smartphones as tablets can provide a better email and web browsing experience than smartphones. This definition can be applied to all tablets and you should think whether your needs can solely be satisfied from a tab let if you already own a desktop PC, laptop or Smartphone. Some may argue that tablets don't quite beat laptops yet in terms of business productivity but nevertheless, tablet PCs remain on everyone wish lists.

There many reasons why people buy tablet computers but some examples include tablets are lighter and more portable than laptops, the web and email experience is better than on Smartphone or on a laptop, provides better battery life and has a fast boot times. If any of these reasons apply to you than having tablet might be appeal to you.

2. Budget

Tablet PC's come priced in many different price ranges and depending on your budget, your choices can be either be limited or unlimited. Whether you are on a tight budget or have lots of money to spend, there are many models available that cater to all budgets. At the low-end tablet market, you can happily pick up a tablet from $ 80 to $ 900 for a high-end model. In most cases, your budget will determine your tablet choices.

3. Platform

At present, the major tablet platforms available are Apple's iOS, Google's Android operating system and RIM's BlackBerry Tablet OS. Which platform to go for will entirely depend on what users are familiar with using. For example, BlackBerry users might be more comfortable to use RIM's BlackBerry Tablet OS because it supports and integrates with the BlackBerry service while other users might opt for the Android operating system because it offers full integration with Google services where as other users might opt for Apple's iOS because it's very intuitive to use. In any case, it would be best advised to go to your local retailer to try out the platforms to ensure you can comfortable use it day-to-day.

4. Specification

Without going into technical jargon about the specifications, it is best advised to purchase the best or highest specification tablet that your budget allo ws to ensure your new tablet can last for many years to come. Technology develops at a fast pace and today's' best specifications can quickly become out of date within six months so it's advisable to ensure the tablet you do end up buying is the best you can afford.

The basic specifications that all tablet PC buyers should consider is screen size, speed of the CPU, amount of RAM, hard drive space and battery life. The general rule is the higher the number, the better equipped the tablet PC is. For example, the popular Apple iPad 2 has a 9.7-inch screen, 1 GHz dual-core CPU, 512MB of RAM, 10 hour battery life and storage is available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB models.

5. Style

Finally, you should consider how the tablet looks. Style and look of a tablet is objective as what might look cool and great to one person might look awful to another.

Ok, this is going to be the first video in a series of Repair Videos for a Playstation 3. As a side note, i am hugely disappointed with the lack of information out there on repairing the PS3, its basically, replace the part with a used one off ebay, which is BS for how popular the thing is. But anyways...I buy broken PS3's from ebay to repair and sell, usually they are pretty basic cooling problem i try to shoot for. But this one, seemed like a good investment, everything boots up, but occasionally it will boot and do this "Green Snow" effect. If i can get it too boot and be problem free for a few minutes, it will run totally fine until the next reboot. So i've removed the Blue Ray drive, and the front Media Card Reader to get it as barebones as possible to diagnose the problem. After doing some voltage readings, i noticed the 12v, 2 x 5x, and the 3.3v were all a bit lower than spec...which is usally ok, but maybe its a prelude to a powersupply problem, or possible the board for the 60gb model just wont tolerate that variance to due a previous overheat or something. So i set out to hookup a high quality CoolerMaster 550w power supply i use for testing computer motherboards. Basically the only thing proprietary about the PS3 power supply module is the way in which its powered on, it seems to always be on in some sort of standby state of which the motherboard can wake it up. But non the less, this is just a energy star kind of feature, the PS3 could care less if the power ...

When Uninterrupted Power Supply topologies vary in price and performance, the key to selecting best UPS depends upon your individual needs. The darkest dream for industrialists and corporate houses are blackouts. Its has become one of the most common issue for various industries today. The other typical power quality problems include spikes and surges, overvoltage, undervoltage (sags) and noise. Such power problems have been the cause of equipment damage, data loss and other errors.

Providing an emergency Uninterrupted Power Supply System for your power back up needs makes a wise decision. This will not only prevent blackout and brownouts, but protect your costly equipments from any kind of damage. There are several considerations while selecting a right UPS for your power application needs. Some of these are as follows:

Power Capacity

The first consideration should be volts-amperes/wattage. This indicates the device power capacity. A UPS with less power capability may fail to prevent data loss caused by unintended shutdowns. For this reason, the capacity of the UPS should be matched properly.

While calculating the power back up requirements, make sure to count additional equipment and peripheral devices like external hard disks, KVM switches, storage area network appliances, and routers and switches.

Outlet Capacity

UPS provide emergency power outlet to computers and peripherals when the main electrical supply fails. The advanced models of the UPS come with a surge-protected outlets that protect the connected equipment.

It is advised to calculate the number of required battery backup outlets, as the main function of UPS is power supply. Always review the needs of your network set-up for the outlets before purchasing a UPS.

Electrical Protection

UPS with surge protector not only regulate the voltage, but protect equipments and peripheral device from electrical su rge. High quality surge protectors are also useful in preventing damage caused by lightening strikes.

Equipment Protection Guarantee

While purchasing a UPS, review manufacturer's equipment protection warranty and other applicable limitation. Always register UPS, the day it has been deployed or seeking reimbursement for damage may become impossible.

Alarm Capabilities

UPS are provided with features that can report unexpected events voltage fluctuation, brownout and blackouts. You can hear alarms when thresholds for certain values such as loading levels, operating temperatures, and battery strength exceed.

Network Manageability

While selecting a UPS, remember that device setting, status menu and alarm parameters should be much simplified, when the system can be accessed remotely.

Battery Replacement Indicator

The most unappreciated but important feature of the UPS is battery warning light. The simp le light alerts the user about the possible failure of the battery to supply consistent power. Always check the UPS has this feature before making a purchase.

Best answer for Will a new graphics card and power supply fit in my computer case?:

Answer by Karl
The hardware will fit in the case, the question is will your motherboard accept the PCI Express graphics card.

Answer by ✌Fauzi☮
750w is overpowered for an 6870. My recommendation is: Downgrade from 750w to 650w, and from the money you saved from downgrading, use that to top up from 6870 to 6950. Assuming your motherboard is an ATX and have at least PCI-E x16 slot, then it'll fit and compatible.

Answer by Rob
I'm not sure on the power supply, I've never had to mess with them before, but my impression is that the sizes are pretty standard so it should fit as long as you don't have an unusual case. I hope it fits for you since you ordered it already. As for your graphics card, the radeon hd 6870 is a great card for the money. I've got one myself! I would definitely recommend it. The only thing that is negative to say about mine is that the fan speed at high revolutions is kinda loud. If you want to pay a little extra money, you can go with the same card but from a different manufacturer, say msi or asus. I've heard that their cooling and fan designs are more quiet. Unless you are looking to get a second 6870 in the future to crossfire (you will have to see if your motherboard has multiple PCIe 2.0 slots) then I would say you will not have a problem with the 6870 you've linked to. Plus that 750W PSU would drive two of them great! ;D

Toshiba Satellites Compare Favorably to Dell Inspirons and HP Pavilions in the Laptop Market [bestcomputersprices.blogspot.com]

Question by CogitoErgoCogitoSum: About the Best Buy 2yr protection plan on laptop computer: Should I get it? Here is my reasoning... The 2 year protection plan costs me a quarter of the price of the machine. Huge portion. Expensive. The first year is covered by manufacturer warranty anyway. So if its prone to break downs it ought to happen during the first year, right? Best buy seems to have a good return policy on bogus machines that they sell, and Toshiba has a good rep as far as I can tell. I keep good care of my machines so I dont plan on having problems. The protection plan seems like massive profit for best buy, since during the first year all returns are covered by the manufacturer warranty. It seems to me that a 2 year protection plan is really just a one-year protection plan that is only in effect during the second year of ownership. Furthermore, after that first year I debate as to whether or not the technology would be out of date, if its more feasible to just buy a new machine. I would be spending a quarter the cost of a new machine for the 2 year protection plan on a machine that is outdated after the first year anyway. Besides, Im not buying the most expensive machine they have... Im buying one of their low end ones that is fairly inexpensive. Does it make sense to get the protection plan? **Note. Best Buy representatives need not answer this question. @Alyssa... you dont seem very knowledgeable. I would prefer insightful answers, rational justifications for why I should or should not. I dont care for the opinion of a ten year old. Best answer for About the Best Buy 2yr protection plan on laptop computer: Should I get it?:

You should not buy the protection plan. It's their way of making money. Just take good care of your computer.

Answer by mr_supercomputer_guy
Remember. You are paying for a peace of mind. Let say that the laptop did die not by your hand but because of a faulty design. Replacing a whole motherboard will cost you at least 300$ (doing it yourself from ebay will run you at least 150$ if the board even work) for only the part. This is the kind of peace of mind you are paying for. If you are keeping it for a couple of years, having a peace of mind is worth it. Don't you think so? In my experience some laptop can die within their first two year. Now if you are only buying it to use for a year (first year of school) then I say avoid it.

Peeing your pants may make you feel good but does no good. Buying a "warranty" from Best buy may make you feel good...until you try to get them to do anything under its terms. It also does no good. Do search on here for Best Buy and read the horror stories of how they screwed up computers, weaseled out of fixing it , etc...

Today Toshiba announced some more information on their Toshiba Thrive tablet. They announced that the tablet will ship in July with Android 3.1 Honeycomb installed. Overall this is a pretty standard Honeycomb tablet with a 10.1-inch screen, but it is cheaper since it starts at 0 for the 8GB option and it goes all the way up to 32GB. Plus it has a USB port which is nice, too bad it weighs 1.6 pounds. Some reports are saying that Sprint is just about to launch their own BlackBerry PlayBook model We've known the top US carriers Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon are going to get 4G models of the PlayBook but it looks like Sprint will be starting it off with a WiFi only 16GB model which will cost just 0. So the pricing is the same as what it would be at Best Buy, and it isn't 4G yet. But it should start selling on June 5th. AT&T also had a pretty big announcement, they announced it at D9. They announced that they plan to add a new plan to their list of plans but this will be a shared plan. So you can buy a singe plan that has a pool of data, minutes, and texts and use it on all of your devices. So instead of paying for the same thing on three phones you could just pay one shared plan and use it on all your devices. This is great but AT&T hasn't announced when they plan to launch this plan. There are several laptop model series from brand name manufacturers, such as Dell, HP and Toshiba, designed for the average consumer looking for a general purpose laptop. Of these, the Toshiba Satellites compare favorably with other bestselling laptop models from Dell and HP, such as the Dell Inspiron or HP Pavilion series.

One of the best all around Toshiba Satellites is the A500-ST56X7. This laptop is a good choice for home, business and school. It is equipped with a 2.26 GHz Intel i5 -430M Dual Core Processor and 4G of DDR3 memory. The hard drive is a 500GB internal SATA. The graphics card is an Intel Media Accelerator HD Graphics card with 32MB-1696MB of dynamically allocated shared graphics memory.

The A500 model comes in an upgraded version, the A500-ST56X6, for those who need more processing power and speed. This model of the Toshiba Satellites is similar to the A500-ST56X7, but comes with a NVIDIA GeForce 310M Graphics card with 512MB GDDR3 discrete memory and a quad core Intel i7-720QM Processor.

Both the A500-ST56X6 and the A500-ST56X7 are equipped with a wireless card that supports 802.11b/g standards. They also have a built in web-cam, speakers, and microphone, and an internal DVD drive. All Toshiba Satellites in the A500 model come with a 16 inch LCD, a numeric keypad, DVD optical drive, and a long-life battery.

A comparable laptop from Dell is the Inspiron 15, with a 15.6 inch display. The Inspiron 15 is part of the Inspiron series which are designed to be a good balance of features and price, similar to the Toshiba Satellites. The Inspiron 15 comes with the Intel Pentium Dual Core T4500 Processor and 4GB of DDR2 memory. The integrated video card is the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD. The hard drive is a SATA with 500GB of storage capacity. The Inspiron is a good laptop, but the A500-ST56X7 is slightly better when it comes to RAM memory. Other features are nearly identical.

Another goo d all around laptop in the same price range is the HP Pavilion dv5t. This laptop comes with an Intel Core i3 processor in its most basic model, but can be outfitted with with the Intel i5-430M Dual Core Processor for a price that will bring it in line with the Dell Inspiron 15 and Toshiba A500, both in cost and processing power. The display is slightly smaller, at 14.5 inches. All other features are similar.

Overall, the Inspiron and Pavilion series are good choices for the average consumer shopper, but in my opinion the Toshiba Satellites provide a little better value for the price. Toshiba Satellites get good reviews from the average consumer as well as IT professionals, and are a good choice for most computer shoppers.

Laptops and other types of portable computers have really evolved a lot in recent years. Remember when only rich business people could afford laptops? Well, that is no longer the case. Now there are portable computers for all kinds of demographics. They are not only popular for business and professional use, but also personal use at home for socializing, web browsing, gaming and entertainment. Even school students are buying them like hotcakes for easier access to homework and studies.

Because of how popular they are getting, more and more stores are popping up all over the place, especially online. It was not too long ago when you would only have a couple of resources that provided a decent selection of laptops, notebooks and netbooks. But now you can visit tons of websites that have great deals on portable computers from all major brands including Dell, HP, IBM, Apple, Toshiba, Sony and Acer to name just a few.

Not only is it much easier to find a decent selection online of all the best laptop brand names, but the prices are always a lot more competitive as well. Shopping online provides many advantages, but few can compare to all the money-saving discounts you can find. Buying cheap laptops online can often allow you to save hundreds of dollars, depending on the sales and the retail price of the laptop you are buying.

There is one downside to shopping online, though, and that is those pesky shipping and handling fees. Don't you hate it when you think you have come across a killer deal on a portable computer, only to discover that when you tack on the shipping fees, it's not so cheap anymore? Luckily, there are plenty of websites that offer free shipping, so as long as you shop around a bit you should be okay.

You can even find second hand laptops for sale online and save even more money. It is amazing how much the Internet has to offer. There is almost no limit to the cash you can save by shopping for laptops on line.

The Logitech z-2300 is not the best speaker system on the market. No questions asked. But I would say you get a lot of money for the price. It produces great sound and for the average consumer, it will fit the bill

Firstly, it's thx certified which means that it has passed on of the highest test that speaker go through. This is a really good sign, especially for people who love music. Secondly the subwoofer is amazing. It can shake up the house, so be careful. You will also like how easy it is to set up. You just plug all the speakers in and turn them on. The other things I liked about the speakers are the style and software. It really has a nice style to it. That is very slick and fashionable. The software is easy to use, and great for people new to computers.

What I did not like about the Longitech z-2300 speakers was way speaker wires were connected. It is nice to be able to change them out and make them longer if I have too. I also think that the subwoo fer was a little too big for my liking.

Overall it was worth money. These speakers cost around eight dollars, depending on where you go. They are not as good as a Bose Lifestyles, but they will do the trick for the average Joe. They are highly recommended by many websites, including Amazon. So if you are looking for a good sound system that will not break the bank, I would recommend the Longitech z-2300 speaker system.

Samsung Netbook Computers Evaluation - How to Pick and Things to Remember [bestcomputersprices.blogspot.com]

Question by : Netbook vs. a laptop advice? So here's my dilemma. My laptop I use now is starting to slow down a lot. It overheats easily, the battery is basically dead, and it only has 140GB (about 100 of that being used by operating systems) so I only have about 4% left on my hard drive. SO I'm looking at buying an all in one computer like this one: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+Factory-Refurbished+All-in-One+w/AMD+Athlon%26%23153%3B+II+X2+Dual-Core+Processor/9780518.p?id=1218172811880&skuId=9780518&st=all%20in%20one&contract_desc=null My friend just bought one for herself and she loves it and I think it would be perfect for me. But then my other dilemma is that I'm starting college in a year and I want a laptop to be able to take to my classes (since I obviously can't take that computer) but I don't want to spend that much money. So I've been looking into Netbooks since they are relatively cheap and easy to carry around while I could leave my all in one stationed at wherever I'm living. That's all the background and my question is would a Netbook be good for taking to classes or does it lack certain features that would be vital ? Do you have an all in one computer or a Netbook and what do you think of it? Do you recommend a certain model? Where can I get the best prices? I don't know much about either of these computers and would love any insight. Thanks in advance! Or is there an alternative similar to the Netbook that would work better? Thanks! (: I should also have clarrified that I'm not interested in putting anymore money into my current laptop. Not even 6 months ago I paid hundreds of dollars to get it snuffed up and it still isn't functioning like it should. It's old, it's outdated and I'm set on buying something new. I'm here to ask for adivce on what I should buy. It wasn't really necessary for me to give you all that detail on my current laptop, I suppose. Sorry about that. Best answer for Netbook vs. a laptop advice?:

Answer by Alan
No. The processor is bad. Not in speed but in quality. Look for one with an Intel processor. At least Intel Core 2 Duo.

Answer by nikkai
You have 140GB hard disc but the OS is at 100GB (no it cant be) you may have a lot of files on there which have mounted up to 100GB which you could save on DVD or even an external HD, to speed you current system up have a good clean out of things like unused programs and applications then delete all your old history cookies form data and temporary files (you can use http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ to do that) it will also clean up your registry. Then go and see if there are any programs that you can stop on start up to make loading faster. Now also have the cooling ducts cleaned and the fan system checked. ALL this will breath new life into your laptop. So go out and get a Samsung net-book for school work and then transfer (copy) those files to your laptop so you can burn to disc etc, the net-book is easier to carry has a battery that should last all day for school and then charge up on the evening etc. It is how my daughter does her Uni stuff.

right my general advice i give to people, is to avoid netbooks. they are good, but (and its a huge one) they are more toys than computers as standard they come with 1gb ram, its pretty much vital to upgrade this to 2gb they also have no optical drives and alot of them have batterys that stick out silly amounts saying that though, there are a few good options, namely the; samsung n220 and the toshiba nb305 they both look good, light and have great battery life (about 8 hours realistically) however, they are tied down with windows 7 starter, which is what makes me think...whats the point? you will be happy to hear there is an alternative most companies have realised there is a demand for "thin, light and mobile" laptops a perfect example would be the ASUS UL30....(amazing laptop) these products are really blurring the lines between a laptop and a netbook. but this asus for example is much thinner, much more attractive, 4x the RAM (4gb) and has a 500gb hard drive. and as for the battery life, well asus quotes 12 hours (!!!!) i reckon about 9, still amazing though. this would be a really good option as its very easy to carry around but speedy enough to be a main computer, and the price? well its very reasonable at around $ 600 as for all in one pc's i would stay clear just because they overheat they arent as powerful as regular desktops and most of the time you can hide the tower away under a desk, i just dont see the point in them anyway :) please take my advice into account

Question by : What should I do about getting a computer refund possibly? Alright. about a month ago (actually now two days OVER a month ago) I bought a computer from a computer store (big mistake I guess) for $ 450. My reasoning for buying it was outside of the specs it had, it had an amazingly small case which made it easy to carry and put in my desk. However, about 4 days ago their antivirus Microsoft windows Essential or something wanted to update and when I turned off the computer finally updated when I turned it back on. THEN it said everything had a virus and wouldn't turn anything on since whatever it was was blocking it and then the desktop changed to some screen saying something to the affect of "Have your computer repair expert remove your virus to protect your family and your children" and all this other sort of crap. I don't have children foolish malware! after about 10 minutes later it said it needed to restart and 10 seconds later it forced a restart. then all it would do was power on and then reset. The weirder thing? It wouldn't show up on the monitor. My monitor on both video hookups (the motherboard and video card) it still said "now sleeping" so now the computer isn't recognizing monitors either. The monitor works, it's the one I'm using on this old crappy computer. Anyways so I spoke to the computer store about the refund. they said they'd take it with $ 100 off the price because I used it for a month (what?) or they'd fix the virus for $ 100 (another what...?! there's something called a warranty.) and so what they have suggested was for me to get the free diagnostic. So I did that, and they didn't have it done in that day. So they said they'd call me when it was done on my phone. THing is I worked long hours friday/saturday and sunday so I was at work and told my mother to take th calls and see what they say and then to call me at work. it is now 4 days later and I called them myself instead of having my mom do it and they said "They're out on a service call but I think they said something about working on your computer." and that's all I got. 4 days for a diagnostic seems extreme, no? anyways, so if they can't fix it being a hardware and not just a virus problem I just want a 100% refund so I can buy one from best buy and not try helping out these self-employed a*holes. So the question is how do I go about that since I know lawfully what they're doing is illegal. just the extent of pointing out each individual thing is what I'm asking. And for more info. When I first got this computer, it was on Windows Vista. I had only used Windows XP prior so I had assumed all of the misplacement of things in control panel and such were just a layout difference of Windows Vista. I did research the day I sent the computer to them and found otherwise no, they were just missing. The control panel did not have anything for windows security center, no way to turn its fire wall on or off, the only change was program files to be removed were supposed to be in program and features instead of add remove programs and it didn't even have that so from what I gathered it was a file that was missing tons of .dll on their installation of vista and since they also refused to give me a Vista OS disc, can almost assume from there the download was an illegal torrent of vista. but I'm also sort of scared that it's not 2 days OVER the warranty because of them that they might try further using that against me for the refund as well :/ As for the first comment, no, it is illegal for them to use an illegal torrent version of Vista they do not have the license to and refuse to give an install disc of it to their customers. I might be frustrated, but likewise assuming it's a self-entitlement doesn't mean anything when I did the research for it. Best answer for What should I do about getting a computer refund possibly?:

Answer by Noodley
It's four days later, but really only the second work day. Trust me, if you were their only customer, they wouldn't be in business. Nobody can survive with just one customer. Therefore, keep in mind that there are likely people ahead of you. Next: If you think buying from them was a huge mistake, go ahead and get a unit from best buy or some other big box store and see what you service is like! I'll take a local business with just a few employees over a big chain store any day. The service will probably be a lot better. As far as "knowing lawfully what they are doing is illegal" goes, I didn't see anything that you wrote that they have done that could be construed as illegal. Your unhappiness with them isn't illegal. Frustrating? Yes. Illegal? No. What should be illegal is your entitlement attitude! I understand that you are frustrated, but take a deep breath and realize that things will get fixed and probably very soon.

Memory Upgrades - How Much Does It Cost to Upgrade My Laptop's Memory? [bestcomputersprices.blogspot.com]

Question by : What is a good windows computer for gaming? I already own a mac but want a separate windows computer so that i can easily play games made specifically for windows with my friends, without having to allocate memory to windows on my mac. The price range doesn't really matter but i would prefer something under 2500 dollars that will run any game smoothly. I was trying to find one myself but i used mac computers all my life and do not really know which windows computers are the best and i am to lazy to build one from scratch by myself, so i will take any advice as to what is believed to be the great gaming computers. And if extra details are necessary because my question is extremely broad, I would prefer a computer with between 1 and 2 terabytes of hard disk space for video editing, with 16gb of ram(at least) for rendering 3d models in maya, and it doesn't matter whether it is a laptop or desktop. The two computers that i was debating on buying were both from alienware but everyone tells me that they are to overpriced. Best answer for What is a good windows computer for gaming?:

Everyone is right, Alienware is massively overpriced. I personally use an old Packard Bell iMedia with which I can get away with murder. With your expansive budget I recommend that you find a nearby company that builds custom rigs. Get them to kit you out with: Thermaltake Chaser MK-1 (case) Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H (motherboard) Intel Core i7-3770k (processor) Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 or 690 (graphics) Let them fill in the rest of the details.

Here ya go: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229311 You could build one like this for less, but since you dont want to, this would rock your face off. ps. dont buy a laptop for gaming... -_-

Answer by jesse g
I would never recommend someone buy a pre-assembled desktop from one of the big companies as you are almost guaranteed to have it marked up. I highly suggest buying the parts and assembling them. It takes a few hours at most. I would guess you would pay no more than 1700 if you buy the parts and assemble them. There are a lot of tutorials if you are confused on any of the assembly and the most complicated part is connecting things to the motherboard, but just follow the instructions. There are usually bundle deals on newegg to get the whole package at a discount if you don't want have to worry about mixing and matching components.

I don't know what you have heard but i have been on this for a pretty long time, and i am telling you, ALIENWARE is pretty good but... Asus G74SX is a ROCK STAR. Yes i know ASUS??? Believe me he is a god when it comes to performance, its a laptop and has a 3.0 GB total video memory, Intel Core i7processor, HD sound, 12 GB Ram 1.5 TB Hard Disk Blu ray dvd reader and a resolution of 1920x1080. As you can see he is the maximum that can be achieved for a gaming laptop and even be compatible. It runs on Windows 7 of course it's a gaming laptop after all and it's approx 1650 $ . It's a top notch deal and i definitely recommend it(and such things as 16gb of ram itself can be, you might want to add it yourself)

Answer by LPunch
There are only two prebuilt windows computers for gaming th at I recommend and nothing else. The first one is the microtel ti9027 from this page.. http://www.amazon.com/Microtel-Computer%C2%AE-TI9027-Processor-Microsoft/dp/B00535QJA2/?ie=UTF8&tag=utf8-qid-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325 and the gamer supreme from ibuypower on this page... http://www.amazon.com/iBUYPOWER-Gamer-Supreme-CrossFire-A978SLCK/dp/B005NCXO62/?ie=UTF8&tag=utf8-qid-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325 The microtel costs more than the ibuypower computer because it has all the latest components installed. Both have 2 terabytes of hard disk space and 16gb of ram so 3d modeling will be a breeze. The only downside is that your friends might be jealous. Alienware does cost a lot but the two I mentioned above is right in between building your own computer and paying too much. They both are prices just right. Hope that helped.

Every computer to ship in 2012 - be it a brand new notebook computer or even one of the new and lighter ultrabooks to arrive from various manufacturers this year ship with one glaring flaw and that's too little RAM installed.

This is usually due to the cost cutting required as computers, especially notebooks are constricted in the cost of the parts and the room for those parts to go. So with that in mind, the computer manufacturers tend to ship the computers with just enough memory for the computers to boot up and perhaps some light computing tasks such as word processing or facebook. On some of the newer ultrabooks the RAM is soldered directly to the motherboard with no chance of adding more memory later. But for the rest of us.. ram is cheap.

Most notebook computers today allow at minimum of 8GB of RAM and some of the more higher end notebooks ship from the factory with 8GB and allow for 16GB of notebook RAM to be installed.

Because the 16GB memory upgrade kits are still a bit on the expensive side, your best value for a notebook memory upgrade is the 8GB memory upgrade kit. It doesn't really matter where you buy your RAM, but you should be aware that the PC manufacturers will charge you more for a memory upgrade than you can buy ram online elsewhere. Current street prices for an 8GB memory kit hover around the $ 40 dollar mark, which means that for less than the cost of dinner for two you can max out the memory on your computer.

Reasons for a RAM upgrade are speed first of all and general performance improvements overall with more memory installed in you computer. This advice holds true for all popular and best selling computers from Acer, Apple, Dell, Sony and Toshiba just to name a few.

The best part of upgrading ram on modern computers is that with a bit of patience and care and common household tools you can perform the upgrade yourself and save the cost of an expensive computer repair bill that could be priced more than the ram upgrade itself. Add to the fact, and this holds especially true for notebook computers in most instances you will be replacing the memory upgrade with larger ram upgrades and you will have the original memory upgrade to either sell or donate.

To summarize, the 8GB memory upgrade kit is the cheapest method to increase the performance of your computer in 2012.

Voip Providers Review--- Choose The Best One For Your Business [bestcomputersprices.blogspot.com]

For example, laptop and desktop personal computers will offer touch screen technology, while Windows smartphones and tablets are now set to feature Office functionality. The Surface will allow for more computing firepower ... The Microsoft Surface is ... Microsoft Surface Will Destroy PC Sales

Making phone calls applying a broadband Internet connection, known as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), is becoming so popular with corporations of each size. The prospect of paying a flat fee for unlimited long-distance phone calls is attractive to each company that has struggled to balance the want to conduct business phone calls with the cost of those calls.

Many companies are finding that installation of VoIP phones is simpler than traditional Private Branch eXchange (PBX) systems, since the desk sets can share the Ethernet cables already in place for the desktop computers. Now, I m going to review 3 most popular Voip Services providers who offer full service products primarily aimed at the small to medium sized business telephone market. Such companies typically support multi-line telephone systems, small PBX gateways and hosted VoIP.

Vonage will bring VoIP service without routing calls through your PC. When you sign higher for i ts DigitalVoice service, the company gives you a phone number in the area code of your option and sends you a free ashtray-size devices device known as an analog telephone adapter or even ATA. You easily plug the adapter into your network router and attach your phone to the adapter, and you're ready to produce calls. If you like, you are able to plug the adapter to a wall jack, connecting each phone in the home.

For corporations that want extensions and services that are even more closely identified with PBXs uncovered in the corporate globe, Vonage isn't a very good option. Its Microscopic Business Project is built on a lone line, similar to a residential line, and does not provide facilities for multiple extensions, call transfers, administrative functions, and the more tasks virtually all corporate users take for granted. 2 more vendors are better suited for the corporate environment.

Vonage Features:

Equipment required: Broadband telephone adapter, Motorola VT1005V $ 30 activation fee. No contract. $ 39.99 termination fee after 14 days Call waiting, caller ID and conference calling. 911 serviceTalkSwitch 48-CVA

The TalkSwitch uses your phone company's existing phone lines and phone numbers to connect to the outside world, but uses your Internet connection to connect to other TalkSwitches in your company's remote offices. This setup is simple to install and lets you keep your existing phone numbers and lines. It also lets you keep your existing phone bills, since your long-distance calls still travel over your phone-company lines.

Where TalkSwitch shines is in its features as a PBX and its ability to connect remote offices and treat them as a single phone system. When two or more TalkSwitches connect through the Internet, the company has a virtual PBX. The offices can make calls to one another by dialing extensions that may be in the same office or at a remote office without incurring long-distance charges.

The same connection can be used to make standard calls to phone numbers that are local to the remote office but long-dista nce from the calling office. I found this feature worked well, but it requires the person making the call to know whether the number is local to the remote office. That's something many callers won't make the effort to deal with.

TalkSwitch 48-CVA Features:

Price: $ 1,795 4 lines in 4 VoIP trunks 8 local extensions 8 remote extensions Expandable to a 16-line, 32-extension phone system by networking up to four 48-CA or 48-CVA units on the LAN 9 Auto Attendants 26 voice mailboxes Built-in traditional and VoIP trunks for combined network access Full-featured PBX telephone system Customer installable and configurable via PC interface Works with standard analog cordless or corded phones and TalkSwitch TS 100 phone sets Packet8 Virtual Office

Packet8 is a service provider. It will bring a "virtual office" by means of a hosted PBX that you are able to attach to from any broadband connection. The equipment consists of 1 DTA and 1 phone for every extension. Minimum configuration for a Packet8 system is 3 extensions, however there appears to be no upper limit to the number of extensions. Every DTA and phone combination costs $ 100, and there exists a $ 40 activation fee per line.

Because all the extensions attach to the equivalent PBX, calls to extensions and calls to outside amounts are processed just as they usually are in a corporate office. The phones have a huge LCD with soft-buttons for voicemail, don't disturb, and each feature you would expect in a corporate PBX. I personally discovered the system elementary to utilise however as well incredibly flexible. Phone functions are managed applying the phone's LCD and its buttons, while exten sion assignment, routing, auto-attendant, and system-related functions are managed through the PBX's Web interface.

Packet8's sound quality was incredibly fantastic. Calls between Packet8 VoIP lines were clear with no noticeable delay. Calls between Packet8 VoIP phones and standard phone lines were equally clear. The quality of the overall system was even more than acceptable.

This is the kind of system that fits any virtual office whose employees require to produce lots of long-distance calls. The Packet8 system is particularly well suited to today's distributed virtual businesses. The fact that all the extensions are section of the equivalent system and operate as a seamless phone system puts a consolidated face on the distributed office.

Packet8 Virtual Office Features:

Price: $ 40 per extension per month Setup costs of $ 100 for equipment and $ 40 activation fee per line Unlimited calling within the U.S. and Canada Full-featured conference bridge for up to 20 participants Auto-Attendant Voicemail with message forwarding and e-mail notification Call transfer and automatic call forwarding 3-way conferencing Music/messaging on hold Distinctive ringing for internal/external calls Caller ID and call-waiting caller ID Stutter tone notifications Call park/call pick-up Related Voip Providers Review--- Choose The Best One For Your Business Articles
