How to Buy a Laptop Computer - The Ultimate Guide [bestcomputersprices.blogspot.com]

Question by : Need a new laptop...which one to buy? Right..my son has killed my 2 year old Asus so I'm using our old Dell Inspiron..which is very slow and annoying! I need a new laptop, but I'm not a computer person so all those 'Core', 'Intel' and other things make me no sence...Could you advice me which laptop would be the best for the average price? Shall I get new or rather good second hand? Please share your opinions...maybe you know good and easy comparison site? If you have some time maybe you want to explain all those fancy words too? Thanks! Best answer for Need a new laptop...which one to buy?:

I'd go on best buy.com and compare laptops. I suggest to get a daul core processor, you can just ask the best buy people whick laptops have those. Daul cores are better because its faster and instead of one core it has 2, and it doesnt really matter if you gat an intel processor or amd

Well, to start off, let me simplify the word Processor. A processor is what determines the speed of your machine. A Core is part of a processor, and it determines the speed of the processor. With 2 or 4 cores, you'll have a fast machine that is good for multitasking. With only 1 core, don't expect much speed. Intel, is just the company that makes most processors, but companies like AMD make processors too. So Intel is just a brand name. It's like Kleenex. Kleenex is a brand that makes tissues. Intel is a brand that makes processors. Anyways, let me continue on. Price wise, laptops can start at $ 320 and go all the way up to $ 3000 and even more! A basic laptop with a single core processor will be rather cheap, but won't have very good quality or speed. I'd recommend that yo u spend around $ 800 for a good quality machine. I own a $ 400 Toshiba, and I really like it. But it`s pretty basic, (Even though it has a pretty good processor!) I`d recommend these brands when buying a new computer: Apple Dell Toshiba HP Compaq Asus MSI Sony Lenovo Those offer a wide range of models all with good quality. Here's a few brands to stay away from: Acer Gateway e-Machines They`re all owned by Acer, and Acer isn't`t very good. If I were you, I might get a second hand laptop. (No more than a year old!) A one year old second hand computer can be cheap, and reliable. But don`t buy a second hand computer more than a year old! It will soon be slow and out of date! So I hope that I could help you with your laptop purchase. PS: Compaq is a good value brand made by HP, so you can get computers very cheap from them. And stay away from the Netbook. A netbook is a small seven to ten inch laptop missing lots of features. The name makes sense, because a NETbook is meant for the interNET! A Netbook is missing features like memory, a large screen, a full keyboard, a fast processor and a CD drive! So resist the temptation of buying a $ 250 Netbook, because you`ll regret it! Hope that I could help!
