Choosing For The Best Apple Memory Laptops [bestcomputersprices.blogspot.com]

Question by bunnyrage: Are Apple laptops worth the extra cash? I work a minimum-wage job (meaning I need to get the best out of my every hard earned cent :P). I am saving up to get a laptop computer for sound (I can record sound at a studio, then take it home and mix it). So here's the question: Is an Apple Macbook 13.3" worth the extra $ 300 over a Dell Studio 15 laptop maxed out? The Dell has better specs and an external sound card. I have a copy of Fruity Loops, and would use GarageBand on the mac for mixing (It's sufficient for my needs from what Ive seen, I don't use any synth). Is the "precision engineered" Mac worth the extra price? Also, any macbook owners (new macbooks), how is the battery life and the internal speakers? Is the sound clear and crisp? Thanks Best answer for Are Apple laptops worth the extra cash?:

I can't help you at ALL with the first paragraph, but I can tell you a couple things in my experience. I've always owned PC's. I got the 13'' black MacBook over a year ago and I will never own another PC. I'm an Apple girl for life now. It really is worth the extra money in MY opinion. I can tell you that the battery life is very good. Of course, all laptop batteries eventually lose their endless life cycles, but my battery is very healthy and holds a charge for hours and hours. The internal speakers are .... eghhh .. so so. I bought Audio Hijack and when I want good sound, I launch that program and it sounds much better. But it's still nothing to brag too much about. Research Audio Hijack Pro and see what you think. Anyway! Good luck!! <3

Yes. Macs just run better. Not to mention they have Windows already installed on them now. The old Macs didn't have as much versatility as Windows does, but now it's really evened out and Macs are well worth the 1000+ dollars you have to pay.

well i read this just in time... im doing the same thing you are using garage band as a back up for most of my music and it has its ups and downs just like everything else... the live recording on garage band is not the greatest the sound comes out a bit distorted but then again i have not really put any effort into clearing up the sound so that's just something on my part... but i would recommend the mac book over windows any day... its alot more stable and wont crash on you like windows and also very immune to viruses... the battery life is alright i guess if you have the screen dimmed and the keyboard back lighting... turned off, the speakers are pretty good to use on the side but i wouldn't really play them blasting the sound is pretty clear and crisp this is on the new mac book 13.3 screen 2.4ghz
