Question by GoodAnswer4439: what is the best type of desktop for the best price? I want to buy a new desktop computer. I was wondering what type of computer and what type of things to get on it. I want to spend around $ 400. I just need it for everyday use but have it still be good when i want to watch videos and view pictures. the one i had would always freeze up on videos even on youtube sometimes. i think i want a quad core processor, the hardrive to be at minumum 250 and have about 4 gb of ram. but that is after going to stores and listening to salesmen. so all in all something thats good for video but not strictley for super video and graphics and stuff jjust for watching a tv show or the news or something like that. also for playing simple games like on miniclip or addicting games but nothing fancy. and the main thing price which i want around 400 but do not want to go above 450 and possibly 500 but i really would rather not Best answer for what is the best type of desktop for the best price?:

go talk to a pc shop...give them your budget see what they can do...or just buy a pc from the shop :)

im sory to tell you that the only ones that would be 400$ or less would be a used one. But of you just want to spend 400$ on just the tower then i recomend a Dell something or other its white thats all i know. The total cost of one with the tower, screen, and all the comfortable programs are going to coast around 1000$ i bit much for you but it is definatly worth it

You're asking an awful lot for 400-500 dollars. However, I think you've been tricked by the salesmen. For everyday use (web browsing, flash games, movies, music, etc), you don't need a quad-core processor or 4GB of RAM. It's overkill. This computer has a 350GB hard drive with 2GB of Ram, and should be perfect for everything you asked for. Both these desktops, while definitely not the fastest around, would be more than enough for everyday use. However, they probably won't get you far if you try to load up COD or Crysis.

Hi there!! Unfortunately, asking questions in an open forum such as this is very much like talking to salesman at a store. Everyone feels that their opinion or their system options are the best. While it is good to get as many opinions as possible, the bottom line is that even with today's most basic systems, the processing power, storage capacity, and available RAM are more than what most people will ever use them for. You really need to ask yourself what the extent of your computer use will be. Unless you're doing some real hardcore graphic design, 3D modeling (CAD/CAM), video rendering, etc., you really don't need a system that has all of the bells and whistles. The specs that you provided are on par with most of the average systems on the market today. However, don't feel that you need to purchase a system with that extensive of an array of options. There are systems with AMD processors that are just as good for basic computer use as the Intel processors... and you certainly shouldn't feel obligated to limit yourself to a quad-core processor. I would suggest that you focus on how much RAM is offered. 4 Gb is definitely a good amount. If you can find a computer with more, then the faster the system will be for you. There are a lot of good computers out there that you can find on special for $ 199+, and no, they are not all used. I have never run across a used computer in a retail store. I have occasionally run across a reconditioned system, but it is labeled as such. For what it's worth, there is nothing wrong with a factory reconditioned system - it's basically new, and it's probably half the price, if not less. When people ask me for a suggestion for buying a computer, I simply tell them to look for the system with the lowest price, write down the specs, and go from there. These days, you don't need to look for brand names, etc. As it turns out, almost all major computer manufacturers purchase their components from the same Chinese mega-manufacturer. You're literally paying extra for the name. Go for something well within your budget, if not less than what you were willing to spend. Look for a system that has a lot of RAM, a good sized hard drive, and a low price. For what you want to do with your computer, there is absolutely no reason to spend more then $ 300 on a computer.
