Question by Chrissy B: Choice between 3 computers-Dell, HP, Toshiba. Which one? I'm getting a new laptop and I'm not sure what to get. I've had issues with HP and Dell in the past, but based on my needs and price, they're still 2 brands I'm considering along with Toshiba. I thought about ASUS but I hate that you can't customize them and I heard support was lacking so that's a no go. As is Sony because while I had a Vaio in the past, they're too expensive for me to get the size I want with all the features I want. And no to Mac, they're too expensive and I have software I want to use that will only work on pcs. So ok, I'll list the models I"m considering, all that I can configure to meet my needs, which sounds best: A) HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition B) Dell XPS either 15/17 C) Toshiba Satellite P750-BT4G22 and actually for the heck of it, I'll throw in Asus, just to see if it's worth it anyhow. D) ASUS K53E-XB1 Any of those sound good? I'm looking for maybe someone in the IT field or someone who works with computers who can give me an impartial/unbiased recommendation. Please don't reply with get a Mac, I'm only looking at pcs. Thanks so much. I never claimed to be a computer expert, I'm doing my research but I've done my research in past and made poor choices in hindsight.It seems that for every review I find that's glowing, I find one equally horrid so I'm trying to get as much advice as I can because this is a big purchase for me. I don't just drop $ 1,000 on things daily. So yes I am a noob I suppose but I know you can't build a laptop and thank you to the other person for pointing that out. Very helpful advice/info I'm essentially wanting a desktop replacement laptop, or as close as I can get. I'm willing to go a couple hundred out of my budget for this. I'd be using it for school, email, IMing my friends and voice chatting via Skype, and for gaming/music/movies. The models I've looked at all give me the option to configure Blu Ray. I'm not set on those models only just they were the ones that fit my needs. Thanks so much these are really helpful replies. typical computer noob. buying over priced pre made pieces of shit. you can make a computer for half the price and it will be 100x better than those crappy pe made pcs at future shop and best buy.

From my experiences I have found that Toshiba and Dell laptops are very reliable. I have seen many problems with HP Motherboards...(enough to call HP computers "Hardware Problems") I personally have owned a few Toshiba laptops (and currently have one) and recommend them to friends and family. I have not had any personal experiences with an Asus laptop, however they used to be my go to for motherboards in desktops (now I am loving my Gigabyte motherboard) Asus is another rock solid brand which I have also seen many good reviews. I second your opinion of the Mac...too expensive with not enough hardware. If i wanted to run Mac OS i would create a Hackintosh with my Toshiba.

Dell is known for its better performance and great looks and customer service.you dont need to cry when there's any prob as the customer support is there with you.but the accessories for your laptop is higher than you expect. Toshiba is have good multimedia capabilites and reliable.no problem when you are working in it.nothing there to tell about it. Hp is same as dell except on looks and customer support. ASUS (on my experience) doesnt have reliability , crashes when temp gets above some limit. But temp cross limit within half an hour of usages.
