There are plenty of good good computers available around that price. Look especially at the refurbished models. The thing that's going to kill you (so to speak) at that price point is the software load. You are not going to get all those Microsoft titles preloaded at $ 250.00. Instead, I suggest you get a good PC and monitor (or reuse your existing monitor) then load up with some Open Source freeware like Open Office (www.openoffice.org).
