We'd guess that the people behind the creation of the Acer Aspire One D150 didn't think outside the box. The Acer Aspire One D150 pretty much carries the same features as the other items on the Acer Aspire One lineup. We're not saying however that it's not a sufficient netbook since in fact, it is a very good one. It runs longer than most netbooks and its screen is bright and sharp enough too. Best of all, it isn't priced high at all.

The Acer Aspire One D150 was produced following the success of the Acer's Aspire One A series. It has Intel's Atom N280 processor that makes the netbook's performance adequate. We have no complaints about the 10.1" CrystalBrite widescreen display, which has 1024x600 pixels, but it isn't anything to be ecstatic about. The glossy screen may at times produce glare too.

If you don't particularly enjoy bringing heavy stuff around, you're going to appreciate that the Acer Aspire One D150 weighs in at 1.18 kg. Since its battery life is 7 hours, bringing this netbook to various places would be convenient. Its keyboard is 89% the size of a regular keyboard; hence, typing can be done painlessly. However, no one wants to type on this keyboard for long though. It has a palm rest but its trackpad may be too tiny for most people to like.

Connectivity choices are excellent. The Acer Aspire One D150 boasts of having three USB ports and one Ethernet port. It even has the Acer Signal Up technology that makes for improved reception. For everyday tasks, this netbook would suit you fine. It has a 160 GB hard drive and the multi-in-1 card reader, allowing for ease in storing files.

This netbook is a looker and since it comes available in four colors (white, black, blue and red), it is tempting for those who like the variety.

The Aspire One D150 comes with a Windows XP Home operating system. Its preinstalled software include: Acer eRecovery Management, Acer Launch Manager, Adobe Reader, McAfee Interne t Security Suite Trial, Microsoft Office Trial 2007. Of value is the Recovery Management Tool, which we think every user should have since it allows for a full backup of your system.

SPECS - AVAILABLE OPTIONS

CPU - Intel Atom N280

RAM - 2 GB (DDR2)

Screen Size - 10.1"

Operating System - Windows XP Home Edition

Battery Life - 7 hours

Graphics - Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950

This netbook scores high on portability. It is light and can run longer due to its battery. The keyboard is near full-size but it's sufficient for most people's requirements.

If you want to run out-of-the-ordinary applications and games, this isn't right for you. The trackpad is small as well, which we don't like so much.

The Aspire One D150 doesn't boast to have plenty of features but at its price, there's no reason to expect more from it. It offers the basic elements of a netbook and while it doesn't have anything new, it does make up for it with its portability. The design is also stylish without being too loud.

Question by sylvester: what is the best computer monitor for movie-watching under 0? I have been checking out some Acer monitors. i'll probably order something from newegg.com. my current monitor is 17" and i can't read subtitles on it when i watch movies a few feet away. so i was looking at 23" screens. there are a lot of terms: LCD, HDMI, HD, widescreen, and built-in speakers. a lot of the monitors have the same price but do or don't have one of the above things. I don't think i will need HDMI because i don't plan on having surround sound, just a couple of nice speakers. i'm assuming that built-in speakers will be bad for music. should i get an HD or is LCD good enough. I'm not fully sure what LCD is, but it seems like they're all LCD. and what about glossy? so yeah, any advice? Best answer for what is the best computer monitor for movie-watching under 0?:

You are jumbling all your specs together. First, "HD" just means high definition, its how high of a resolution your monitor can display. There are several HD formats, from 720i to 1080p. You should look for a monitor that can display full 1080p HD. These are easily found on 22 to 24 inch displays. HDMI refers to the type of connection and cable you use to connect the monitor to the computer. For full HD resolutions you really need a digital connection. There are three types of digital connections, HDMI, DVI, and Display Port. You should check your existing computer to see which type of port you already have and by a monitor that has at least one matching port on it. LCD is what type of display the monitor is, what the display screen is physically made from. LCD means "liquid crystal display". There are only two main types of monitors these days, CRT or LCD. CRT's are going away, they are big heavy glass tube based screens. Nearly all monitors sold these days are LCD. One other term you might hear is LED, this is just what type of light source is behind the LCD display. They are typically more expensive, but the monitor should last longer and have more even back lighting. I would stick with a monitor in the 22 to 24 inch range, that has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and is rated at "full HD 1080p", with both a DVI and HDMI port. You can find monitors with a 1920 x 1200 resolution, and that is fine, it gives you slightly more vertical screen real estate, but is not critical. As long as it says it can do full 1080p HD then you are good to go. I would NOT rely on built-in speakers for your audio. The flat screen monitors just do not have enough space to include decent sounding speakers. Go with either headphones or a decent desktop speaker setup. As far as "glossy versus matt" you always should pick matt finish for the screen. There is less glare, and the picture is every bit as good as a glossy screen these days. As for the bezel (the plastic around the screen) it doesn't matter. Glossy will attract dust and finger prints, though.

Just buy this monitor: Samsung 2494LW 23.6" LCD Monitor http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=a3615405 It is a nice monitor at the Dell website for $ 229 but using coupon codes below: TRVNZNW8XV279N and RSSZMZBJJB83M0. Will reduce the price to $ 161.99 w/free shipping. You can't go wrong with this monitor for this price. Act now, it won't last long.
