One of the facts about a any computer you buy new, with in a few months of getting it will be outdated. The computer industry basically has a new generation of advances every six months. The best rule I use when it comes to upgrading is; don't up grade until your computer can't do what you use it for, so if you have one you just use for word processing you can keep it working for you for years with out ever needing to spend any more money on it. One of the great ways to get a very nice new computer is to get one 'new to you', I am not talking about getting one out of the local paper but a factory refurbished computer. Choosing the best cheap laptop computer lets you get a nice upgrade, with many of the latest hardware, but you don't have to pay nearly as much. Very often you can get these products at eighty percent off or even more. One thing to keep in mind that a quality refurbished laptop will have warranty's, and will have a licensed software as well. You can find many resellers online that will have quality laptops, dirt cheap compared to buying the exact same product new. Many of the resellers will carry many of the best brands that are known for high quality products like Dell, HP, and Apple products.
Even though you can get some great deals on a online auction its not the same as getting a factory refurbished laptop with a warranty. They have made sure that the hard-drives are clean and tested critical parts to ensure its soundness. You can't get the same assurances from a online auction site, they are allot more buyer beware then a quality refurbished laptop. The same resellers will often have the accessories and peripherals that you would want as well like scanners, cameras, carrying cases and such as well for very reasonable prices as well.

I'd wait, most stores over stock up to Christmas in case of a huge demand for a product. Most have sales after Christmas to get rid of their stocks.

I would buy it now because they would probably have a better price with better deals for the chirstmas season now. Plus right now they normally throw in free ipod and stuff too, if your into that. I'm getting an apple laptop as well for chirstmas.

They recently updated the iMacs, so it will take a while before they do it again. Apples prices usually don't fluctuate that much - they usually just upgrade the specifications once in a while. I don't think it will make a big difference if you buy it now or right after christmas. If you know someone who is a student or are a student yourself, there are some quite decent student discounts on apples computers.
