Question by dizzybee&searanger: Best laptop for web designer?? Hi. I completed a web design course last year and now trying to design websites for people. I need a laptop which is just as easy to use as a computer as l travel around a lot and need to take my work with me. Can anybody recommend a laptop which is brilliant for web design with a decent size screen?. Open to any price as long as it does a good job. Am in the UK. Thanks for your help! Macs are best by far..for web designers..Most web designers do their work on Macs..Less virus to none..And if you are into graphics that a plus for having a mac..

It being web design, you may want to go with a macintosh unless it has to work with Internet Explorer. If that ist he case then go with another brand. Just stay away from HP, Compaq, E-machines (which I do not think make laptops), and Gateway. Any other brand should serve you well. If I were you though I would probably go to Dell and get one of their upper end models or go with Fujitsu. Though Japanese made, Fujitsu is right on the leading edge of laptop and Tablet PC technology and they make good quality machines. Just go for one of their uper end models too. It will be more expensive than Dell, but it will be a good computer.

Any laptop will do the trick for web design. no reason to spend tons of money on it. the only thing i recommend not getting is a laptop with a celeron processor. basically any other new laptop will be more than enough for you. I have good experiences with many brands of laptops. But i have to admit, there is absolutely no reason to buy an alienware as stated in another answer if it's primary use is for web design. Plus i assume you would want a good battery life for traveling. In that case I would recommend a Dell with an extended or extra battery.

I recommend the apple macbook pro 17". It has a beautiful crisp wide screen and it light has a sleek design. I'm using the new macbook which has the 13" screen. But for what you will be doing the 17" should be perfect for you. Mac OS has iWeb software integrated for web design and there are several software online for pr ofessional web design such as Adobe Dreamweaver 8 or Macromedia Fireworks, Flash, Photoshop to name a few. I prefer mac over a windows pc when it comes to multimedia production because memory is utilized more efficiently and doesnt bogg down memory for other applications. Well you should already know the apple computer costs a bit more than a regular pc, however the additional cost is well worth it and it requires very little maintainance over a longer period of time. Just to add, more professionals in the graphic design and production industry uses apple computers, so there's good support out there whenever you need it. Good luck and good buy :)

I am a Web Designer myself, but been doing a lot of recovery these days, so I am now a Data Recovery Man. Anyways... I would suggest you a Dell Inspiron or an Acer. Nothing too fancy, ok. a 15" inch XGA is good enough and get a 12 cell battery ( this will help you stay online for longer, uploading and testing takes long hours). Get Acer, its sleek , stylish and good. And if you would like to feel like a machine, then DELL. save some cash while buying, and use that extra money to buy Macromedia Dreamweaver , Flash Studio 8 , Photoshop. These softwares are more essential rather than the machine.
