So I was browsing around on newegg, comparing prices, and I found a LARGE spike in price when going from 22" computer monitor to a 24" ($ 300 to $ 600?!) Why? I was flabbergasted! (lol) The price dropped tremendously! I could get a 37" LCD HDTV for the same price as the before mentioned monitor! This is the one I liked out of the TVs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824112174 I noticed the recommended resolution on the monitor was 1920 x 1200, while on the TV is was 1920 x 1080. What's the difference? Which is better? So, what should I buy? The monitor or TV? Should I go with a different monitor or TV? Should I just "screw it," go bang for buck style, and buy a 22" monitor? I noticed the recommended resolution on the monitor was 1920 x 1200, while on the TV is was 1920 x 1080. What's the difference? Which is better? They are both differently shaped. The 1920X1200 is going to be a little bit wider. You could buy a regular LCD TV, and if the TV and your computer support it, you could run an S-Video to the TV and use it as a monitor as well.

TV's have relatively poor resolutions compared to monitors. I run dual 22" and it was only 500 for all the real estate ;)

LCD HDTV is the Best way to go! The monitor needs hardware, and you don't want to pay extra for that because the monitor will be outdated before the hardware. It isn't about price as much as it is what you are getting, and future needs.

To answer the first part, a monitor is a TV that only gets channel 3. For the second part, the cost is more because the public perceives that anything hi-tech should be expensive. The manufacturers know this and price accordingly.

The Tv and the monitor are different in many ways The monitor is very clear and sharp therefore for a person who is a business man and need word processers alot would use a moniter. However a tv is very sharp and still clear, but If you are to read this writing on a tv, you wouldn't be able to read this. In other words, moniters have a more clear picture and a tv has a bigger picture. Because you are using the computer for gaming purposes I recommend the Tv.
