Question by Patrick: LCD tv for computer monitor? I am looking at building another computer and was wondering if I could use a LCD tv for my monitor? I quickly looked at some of the 24 inch monitors and noticed compared to a LCD tv they were more expensive. I could get a much bigger LCD tv for the same price as a smaller widescreen monitor. LG's are sweet, check to make sure it has the correct connectors. Since you are building the system also consider a dvi card so that you can do the HDTV thing.

Samsung R87 comes in 26" and is HD. Its rather good and has good picture quality whilst having all the normal connections (VGA and HDMI)

LCD HDTVs that have HDMI or VGA ports are computer-ready. I'm using a 52" Sony Bravia 1080p LCD HDTV as my monitor. It's connected to my computer using a DVI-to-HDMI cable, displaying 1920x1080 resolution (aka 1080p High Definition). Works beautifully. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f347/armchairaviator/computer/IMG_0880c.jpg Keep in mind smaller LCD HDTVs such as 26" sets have lower resolutions, typically 1366x768 or 1440x900. As far as the size of the pixels go, I don't find it to be a problem. As a matter of fact, the text is bigger and easier to read, and some people will find it works better for "computing" than small monitors.

Any LCD TV will work, I use a High Def 42" Vizio. Just make sure it has enough inputs, ie; VGA, HDMI or DVI. Any of these 3 will work as a computer input...

TVs make crappy computer monitors. They look OK from far away and if you're just using it as a mediacenter display it will work beautifully. But if you're going to sit in front of it and actually _compute_, those giant pixels are going to give you a massive headache. A 24" TV resolution is usually 1280 X 720 while a 24" monitor would usually be 1920 X 1200. That's nearly twice as much detail.
