Question by SmEllY!: I am really upset about the prices my auctions just went for on ebay? What is the best bargain somebody has scored from you?? I am totally annoyed, I am a power seller and normally I am buy it now only but because we are relocating I decided to do auctions to move stock quickly and my stuff sold for a third of the expected price, I think it is because people often mention that they cannot see my listing descriptions and it is because of my html not working on many computers. I am quite upset, make me feel better : ( I'm in australia and reserve prices arent allowed I do well with buy it now items BUT people who have Vista or use internet explorer cant view my description and it drives me insane Best answer for I am really upset about the prices my auctions just went for on ebay?:

some items dont have enough demand, or people dont know to look for them. Something like an incubator might not have alot of potential buyers to begin with. A wii or something hot wont sell for less but if your selling some water purifier or something, that is an expensive model alot of people wont be searching for that model, and it will get lost in the crowd of similar products.

I have been lucky just to break even on ebay. I think most of the time I have big bills for their fees...listing fee, final value fee, paypal fee... Sometimes you make money, sometimes you lose money...lucky if you break even. People tend to add on the shipping price in their head and they want to pay the same amount they would pay in a store or at a yard sale. So you can subtract your shipping and fees from your profit. Some pet supplies in Australia that are over the counter there are by vet only here in the U.S. I think I saw Drontal worm pills and Advantage flea stuff online from Australia?

Well...as a power seller you know that one day it will sell for more than you expected, and the next day you won't get beans for it. You already know that if you want a higher price to set it higher from the beginning...but don't worry...at least the stuff you are selling...you won't have to be packing!! Smile...someone out there will eventually bid and win something from you 10times the amount you paid for it. (Take it from me....) I usually start my auctions at .99, I've had a Dale Sr. coat go for over 100.00 when I paid only 55.00 for it. Take the good with the bad!!

I know how you feel I stopped doing auctions because of it and only use BIN I put the price higher then what I expect it to sell for and take best offers till I get one I like. Unless it's an item that has the potential to sell for a lot more then I expect. I do a lot of sports cards on ebay and sometimes you can get 2 people in a bidding war over a rare card and it sell for 500%+ more then the norm. If I do auctions anymore I start it at the lowest I'm willing to take for it if it doesn't sell. I have only had this happen a few times items sell for less then I expected I usually manage to get premiums on everything. You have to be original and know what steers people away when you are selling something Gucci you never want to say NOT armani just to get people who are shopping for Armani to see it. I don't ever bid on those people auctions and block them. Make sure you always get the seller excited be original in your description and wording the only down side other sellers will copy you when you get premiums
