BFG 8800gt I think is in your budget. Good card! I'm running it on a q6600 box and I get 40- 120 fps depending on game and medium to high settings! It runs real hot though so an aftermarket heatsink is advisable!

My 8600 runs Crysis just fine, I have the same vid card, a 3 gig processor, 2 gigs memory, and 250 gig HD, I have no problem at all running crysis on full settings. You may want ot go in and change oyur memory settings to manage them yourself to free up some more, and try shutting down all non essential programs before gaming. Look on Tigerdirect.com, they have great deals on vid cards, and computer equipment! I buy and build systems off their site, just be sure to read all the fine print so to say. I have only had one issue with them in years of business. And it was the manufacturer, not them.

If you're only running your games at 1024 x 768 you shouldn't need much more than a 8600gs. But if you really want to go for the overkill: try the ATI 4850 ($ 170-$ 200) or the Nvidia 8800GT or GTS ($ 150-$ 200). I personally have liked nvidia over ati for many years, so I recommend that. Any one of those cards will probably get you around 60-80 fps in crysis med. set., at 1024x768. At high, 1280x1024 you'll probably get around 35-40

Crysis is a difficult game to get running with a decent framerate on any current card with all setting on high. I would recommend that the lowest model card to go for would be an Nvidia 8800GT 512MB OC (Factory Overclocked) Such as those from Inno3D, these are cheaper than most of the other well known OC'd cards, and perform equally as well. However, I am not sure of the Dollar Value of these cards in your area (I am from the UK). Don't go for any Nvida x600 card (8600/9600) as these are mid range cards. Even with the above mentioned card, although you wil be running most settings on high, there are also a couple that will need to be set to medium to get the framerate you desire. I know they'll deliver to Canberra, and it's go to be a better online experience than Ebay anyway. I suggest the XFX GeForce 8800GTS Alpha Dog Edition. Not to be confused with the old 8800GTS. The GeForce 280GTX does have 240 Stream Processors, but take a look at the price! GeForce 9800 GX2? Sure 128 Stream Processors x2! Two 9800GTX will overrun this card, and are cheaper! Graphics ram speed, amount, and Shader amount is nice. So are the other features presented for high performance graphics cards, but if you don't have enough Stream Processors, you aren't accomplishing anything. Stream Processors are the graphics data information 'highway'. Not enough causes a bottleneck in graphics data. Crude example : Multi-lane highway for traffic. 8 lanes per side. Coming up down the road is road construction. 8 lanes merge into one. Bottlenecked traffic.
