As new technology keeps coming out, the price on older stuff will usually go up. Try www.pricewatch.com They check the prices out on many different sites and stores so you can get the "best" price. Just keep in mind, prices on things like RAM can change daily, so keep your eyes open.

2GB DDR2 is about 38$ here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161030 I really don't know where did you hear that 2GB is under 30$ , thats insane, or you're buying some really old 533MHz DDR2 which is really slow and isn't worth buying at all! Please, don't listen to people that will sell your really old and slow memory for about 25$ but you can buy that one which I provided you which is @ 800MHz.
