Finding the Perfect Gaming Computer [bestcomputersprices.blogspot.com]

When looking to buy the best gaming computer for your needs, there are thousands of options from which to choose. More than likely, each of them will tell you they are the best in the industry and will blow every computer around them out of the water. However, knowing what parts to look for in a gaming computer allows you to ignore the marketing hype and find a computer to fit your needs at a price that fits your wallet.

Whether you choose to buy a pre-assembled computer or buy parts individually and assemble your own personal gaming powerhouse, the important components remain the same. While it used to be all about processors, speeds have increased to the point that any processor made in the last few years will offer more than enough performance for most games when coupled with proper components. For most games, a dual-core processor with a clock speed around 2.4ghz will suit most needs. Compare prices however, as a four, six or eight-core processor can provide improvements if the price is right. While a faster processor may increase gaming performance slightly, they are the most expensive way to increase performance. These days, the important factors when choosing a gaming computer are a proper graphics card and adequate RAM to allow snappy computer response.

With the affordable price of RAM, it is typically one of the cheapest parts to splurge on for some added multitasking performance. While the benefits of RAM in gaming can be limited on the upper-end of the scale, extra RAM will provide quick response times when doing other tasks on your computer while gaming. As a bare minimum, 2GB of RAM may suffice. However, it is suggested to get 4GB of RAM. For added performance boosts, upgrading to 6GB or more of RAM will allow room to grow and give noticeable results.

The true workhorse of the gaming computer is the graphics adapter or video card. These devices handle the display of any video or graphics, make a massive diff erence in video quality and improve frame rates. Choose a computer with a dedicated graphics adapter for the best performance. While on-board video processors have improved, they cannot match the raw video processing power that dedicated cards can harness. When choosing a video card, compare processing cores, maximum resolution, available memory, and memory and processor speeds. A great resource for comparing video card performance can be found at Video Card Benchmarks.

Answer by SeanL
If you're looking for gaming, steer clear of Macs... WAY too expensive for the power they offer. Look into Acer or ASUS notebooks.

Sim 3 would run on a PC too. I would just get a PC since there's that many games compatible on the Mac.
