The cd drive no longer opens nor does the mouse seem to work half the time (bought it one week ago tomorrow) so I'll be returning it. I'm not looking to buy another Toshiba: I don't like them at this point (for more reasons other than I got a bad one). I am, however, looking at two to three other computers. I've talked to places like ESPN and NESN (both who I've wanted to work with) and they both said they don't recommend getting Macs either. I also don't like how Macs run, I like the desktop and that's it. 2.) I am only deciding between the two, possibly three. No compaqs or desktops. Both HP & Sony are very good computers but since you have had hp products before and you liked them, then I say stick with hp.

I have a Toshiba Satellite and it works fine ... however my dad has one, a newer one even and i am having trouble with it. It's weird ... if you can get away from a laptop i would look into building your won desktop ...

my suggestion is that you get a small computer so you can use it for transportation. it will have to have a good amount of spa ce for your gaming and other needs. use ubuntu instead of microsoft. and replace internet explorer with firefox because it crashes the least. oh and if possible you can get it with blu-ray. all for a small $ 300 price?

The HP has a little more hard drive space. The CPU is a little faster and a better graphics card. but it's not like a huge difference between the two. You might want to just pick the one you feel more comfortable using. Look of the screen keyboard. general feel etc. Neither are super powerful, but if you are using them for word processing, internet, email, watching movies. They should both fit the bill. Good luck.

I like the VAIO the best. If you want speed, choose the Duo core (HP) If you're interested, you could get a refurbished laptop that is the best of the best!!! Dell computers are nice. Macs are also good, but I'd stick with Dell if I had the choice.
