This is an argument that is highly susceptible to bias opinion. The Sony Vaio laptops are ok, but generally are more expensive and lately have been experiencing problems. I personally would never recommend a Dell product due to the sheer amount of problems I've encountered from Dell where I work and at home. I always prefered Toshiba laptops because they're affordable and decent. The overall quality of them tho lately has dropped sadly. Personally if you want to develop your own conclusion as to what will be beneficial to your wife without going overboard, why not just go visit a BestBuy or local computer shop and look at what's available?

There are a lot of websites that will tell you stuff like that. Consumer Reports currently says that the best laptop is the Toshiba Satellite T135-S1305. Other websites will say differently but Consumer Reports is usually pretty accurate.
