Also, the plate around the screen, on both the inside and outside, is coming apart where IT connects in the back, and i can see some computer stuffing inside there as well. Best Buy can't do anything for me. I need to get a new computer. Which brand is best? Dell, toshiba, acer, lenovo...any other i don't know of? Also, what specs should i look for? What RAM, what type hard drive, what type processor? I save a LOT of photos and a lot of music files thru windows media player word documents, and i usually have 2 word docs, 1 onenote, 2 internet windows (with 2-6 tabs per window), so i'll need a computer that has the ability to let me flip from one thing to the next without pausing to load each window. hp tends to have a lot of bang for the buck. they have a few laptops that have 17" screens with decent memory 4 gigs and up is what you need. you might want to consider getting an external hard drive for your documents and music.

Arguably, Lenovo's Thinkpads and Dell Latitudes have the best keyboards for a writer (probably big factor), and both are fairly sturdily built. For RAM, 2-4GB. For CPU, it doesn't look like what you're doing is CPU intensive, so a Core 2 Duo should be fine, though go for a Core i3 if possible.
