Unquestionably the best way to buy a refurbished desktop or laptop computer is through a company that specializes in building custom computers. Why you ask? Because when you deal with somebody with this much experience, you're getting expertise that simply isn't there when buying generic, or in-store computer systems with limits on component specifications.

Many people are used to buying online and giving out their credit card and address information is intimidating. They have a fear either being scammed, or not getting the best help or advice from a nameless person behind a website address. This is quite understandable, however in an age where billions of dollars are transacted online every year, there is no need to worry. If you still feel uncomfortable making a purchase online, it's always a good idea to just call the company you are thinking of dealing with and talking with somebody. This often goes a long way toward helping you feel better about buying a cus tom-built desktop computer.

So what are the benefits of buying a custom-built computer online? The fact of the matter is that when buying custom, you can hand pick all the components in PC case that will be used to build your computer. Now although most novice computer users don't need this level of service or specification, advanced users and those who know exactly what they want won't do it any other way.

It is commonplace to have some doubt as to the quality of a refurbished laptop, but this isn't like buying a used tire for your car. Most likely there was little if anything wrong with the computer in the first place, since manufacturers are obligated to offer a 30 day money back guarantee, they often receive returns, or people who want to exercise the guarantee. Unfortunately, the manufacturer cannot then sell the computer as new for the original price. It must be either sold as used or refurbished. This is unfortunate for computer manufacturers, however for savvy computer buyers it's a great way to obtain a great deal on a new or like new computer.

Before making the move to refurbished custom computers, take careful consideration of exactly what your computer needs are and be sure not to specify higher and components than you actually need. However, if you typically run processor intensive applications such as image manipulation and editing software, you may want to purchase more RAM and/or processing power. RAM and CPU are the most popular upgrades made by PC buyers since they have the most effect on computer performance.

In our opinion, buying refurbished is hands down the absolute best way to go, especially if ordering through a custom computer builder and giving them your exact requirements. Not only will you save money but you will end up with a custom desktop computer that will exceed your needs.

Question by : What's the best desktop computer for around 00? ok so I'm 14 and I'm looking to be a video producer. I'm already enrolled in a technical high school for video (and media) production. So the computer that I'm currently on has 1 gb ram, a 2.1 ghz AMD dual core processor, and 4 people using it. I need my own computer for video editing in 1080p. (and possibly some gaming..tehe) so i've been saving up for about a year now and I found a bunch of computers that would be good. The Dell studio XPS 8300 with a bunch of upgrades seemed to fit my needs and my budget. With upgrades it has: Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64Bit, English Intel® Core™ i7-2600 processor(8MB Cache, 3.4GHz) Microsoft® Office Starter: reduced-functionality Word & Excel w/ ads. No PowerPoint or Outlook 2Year Basic Service Plan ST2220L 21.5-inch Full HD Widescreen Monitor ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5 8GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 4 DIMMs 1TB - 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache McAfee SecurityCenter, 15-Months Software & Services Single Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability AY410 2.1 Stereo Speakers with Subwoofer Dell Consumer Multimedia Keyboard Dell 1520 WLAN PCIe card with11n mini-Card & external antenna Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Dell Laser Mouse Personalize DataSafe 2.0 Online Backup 2GB for 1 year Also Includes XPS 8300 Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 9.0 Multi-Language No Dial Up Modem Option Standard USB 2.0 + 10/100/1000 Ethernet now this computer is $ 1340 which is a little above my price range, but if the computer is good for the money, I'll take it. Any suggestions on a better computer? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Best answer for What's the best desktop computer for around 00?:

I don't do any video editing, but if you need your computer for video editing in 1080p, I think you'll need to upgrade to a bluray burner. The one you list doesn't appear to be a bluray unit @computer tech, I would think you'd want to build your own. We computer guys(me, anyway) love a pile of hardware to assemble.
