I have had my sony vaio for 2 years, it runs very well, and has never broken or anything like that. However, it is about 800 dollars (with the discounts I got for the color and my computer being the display model). Toshibas are considerably cheaper and run relatively well for the cost, and gateways are cheaper and also run well.

I would say DELL, best support. Anything wrong that they have to come, they come to you next one or two day. People infected with malware and virus very easy online these, Apple MAC would be less trouble then windows OS.
